End of June Zindorf Garden Tour

Published by zindorf at 10:31 am under Uncategorized

We have had so very much rain all this month, not even once have I had to water the gardens.  This is my third year at this house and so it is the third year for this garden.  My Sister the Master Gardener told me, when I started putting in my perennial gardens, the first year your plants will sleep, second year they creep and the third year they leap.  Well they are all leaping this year for sure!

It was such a beautiful morning, not to hot or cold.  So I took a walk with my camera to take some photos to share with everyone.   Please don’t look at the dead-heading of plants that hasn’t been done or the weeds that haven’t been pulled.  I’ve been making card tutorials and have been a bit neglectful of late.  :)  The plants still seem to be so very happy this year.  They all seem to be two feet taller than they were last year this time.

Sweet Peas

Now here is my pal, Lucas behind the Day-lilies.  Note:  Lucas is over 100 lbs and he can almost hide behind them they have gotten so very huge.

dsc04793.JPG

There is definitely no rhyme or reason to the planting of my gardens.  Whatever I like gets shoved in somewhere.    I’m in the country for Pete’s sakes, so I have a country style garden.

dsc04804.JPG

I love Cone Flowers and so do the butterflies and Yellow Finches.  I’m sure to take some photos in the near future of all the butterflies, it’s to early in the morning for them just yet.

dsc04829.JPG

dsc04830.JPG

I still haven’t started digging my gardens that will go in front of this fence.  It’s an over whelming project that I just keep putting off. :)

dsc04815.JPG

Strawberry jar, yummmmm.

dsc04810.JPG

Come sit a while at one of our swings.. . . . . . .dsc04812.JPG

A view from the swing this morning.  The corn fields are growing like made too.  Told you I was in the country.  There is no place like it.

dsc04823.JPG

I feed all the birds.  We have droves of Hummingbirds.

dsc04832.JPG

I have Lavender planted through out the gardens.  I love the smell as you walk by.

dsc04818.JPG

I’ll  leave you with the thoughts of the sweet, calming smell of Lavender, birds singing, corn stalks rustling in the breeze, morning sun on your face and the views from my swing.

Have an absolutely lovely day!

Until my next post. . . . . . . . .

Michelle

You have lovely gardens. I’m slowly getting mine done after living in our house 6 years. I enjoy them, but sometimes it’s more work than I want to tackle. :( Thanks for sharing yours. They’re beautiful! :D

I have always loved your cards. Just looking at them makes me dream. Your flowers are great. I myself do not have a green thumb. I really love Lucas. I have a Bassett Hound so you’d never see him over the flowers. The Sweet Peas are my favorite but I also like the plant in the lower left corner of the picture with Lucas. All of them are great. Thank you so much for sharing.

Oh my, the beauty in your yard is comparable to the beauty you put into your creations! You definetly were gifted with an over abundance of creative genes!!!

Oh My!!! What a beautiful garden you have! TFS.

  8. Beckyon 29 Jun 2008 at 11:24 am

Your yard is as beautiful as your cards. You are one multi-talented gal. What a cute dog too. He/She’s like my dog …. always ready for the camera. I would love to be sitting in your yard breathing in the lazy lavendar and looking at all the stunning colors flowing together. I live in the country too and was out taking pictures last night of a double rainbow we had leftover from a storm passing thru. Love your blogs. Thanks for sharing.

Oh I’m so envious of your garden - it’s absolutely beautiful. We havne’t received alot of rain here in NC and I have had to water - but don’t do it often enough. I also have a large garden and some of the flowers are not doing well. Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden with us.

What a beautiful setting! I’m not a gardener but I sure can appreciate the beauty of the garden (not to mention the work involved) thanks so much for sharing.

Your garden and country views are gorgeous!! Thank you for sharing!

  14. Shelly Schmidton 29 Jun 2008 at 12:12 pm

I am a wanna be….perennial flower person…….I try really hard at flowers, but the ones that overtake everything always crowd out and kill the one I love the most……. I am learning, I have to say at least, for the most part, I can tell which is my flower and not a weed now……that was hard! Your garden is absolutely wonderful! I love the sweet peas and the coneflowers, of which I have none! It is cool here today as well, maybe i will get out and enjoy my flowers! Thanks for the pretty pic’s!

what a beautiful garden, and a great source of inspiration for your cardmaking! Thanks for the tour :)

  18. Karen Verhagenon 29 Jun 2008 at 12:33 pm

Love all your flowers! You certainly have a green thumb. You need a pond, though. They are so much fun to decorate around (after you have forgotten how much work they were to put in). But once they are in then it is mostly fun stuff!

Keep all the beautiful cards coming - I wish I had 1/10th of your talent!

  19. Andi Sexton (rrlscrapgal)on 29 Jun 2008 at 12:34 pm

Thank you for the beautiful, peaceful tour! What a great place you have! Your garden is just a delight…I LOVE it…

I am not surprised that someone with your love for great colors and creativity would have such beautiful surrounding’s to inspire you….

Your world is beautiful, inside as well as out!

Did you put a green tint filter on your camera? :) Great photos TFS.

What a beautiful garden and yard you have! My question to you is….do you sleep? Between the absolutely stunning art work you create (of which I am HIGHLY envious) as I do not have a creative bone in my body…and I have a “brown” thumb to boot…I can’t imagine how you manage to get so much done in a day!

I love, love, love your tutorials. I have never had any type of art training and I am beginning to understand some of the process from “watching” you. Thanks for sharing your gift and talents with us!

  23. Heather Fullerton (Retired Heather)on 29 Jun 2008 at 1:31 pm

I now understand where some of your inspiration comes from. Your home setting is beautiful. Sitting in the gardens must get your creative juices flowing. It is so beautif and I can only imagine how wonderful it smells and sounds…birds, butterflys and hummingbirds. I am jealous of both your talent and your wonderful setting. I hope you have many enjoyable times in your gardens.

  24. Sandyon 29 Jun 2008 at 1:45 pm

Your yard and gardens are beautiful. They look so perfect. I love your sweetpeas, I’ve never grown them. I also love lavender. The colors are wonderful and oh that smell! The scent of the heavens. Thank you so much for sharing.

  25. sandyh50on 29 Jun 2008 at 1:56 pm

Where are the weeds? LOL! I took a walk outside around the yard and can hardly enjoy the flowers because of seeing weeds, and I hate weeding!! Thanks for sharing your lovely pics!

  26. lesaon 29 Jun 2008 at 2:05 pm

Love the pictures. So pretty - they induce happiness. Just found you and plan on staying in touch. :)

  30. Marieon 29 Jun 2008 at 2:44 pm

You have a beautiful gardend and I would love to see some of the butterflies (or hummingbirds, finches or whatever else visits it). I enjoy gardens so much and the creatures that they attract. We live on an Air Force base so I can’t really make a garden exactly like I would like, but I try my best with the little areas that I am allowed to garden in. Thank you for letting me enjoy yours while I am inbetween houses :)

  31. Chandaon 29 Jun 2008 at 2:58 pm

Looks so peaceful and inviting! Can I come over? :o)

  32. Tonnieceon 29 Jun 2008 at 2:59 pm

What a beautiful place you have there, with the bird feeders, manicured lawns, and all those yummy flowers, I can almost smell them . This reminds me of Up North (Here in Canada) my friend has a cottage right on the French River.

Thanks for the wonderful tour of you little piece of heaven.

    Happy Sunday

I loved the “walk in your garden”!!!!!!!!!! I, too, have beautiful gardens; however, I am still working hard at your card techniques. Thanks for the views.

What a BEAUTIFUL garden! I am so happy to see your cone flowers because I didn’t know some are pink!…I will remember when I am coloring my stamped images.
Thanks for the inspiration and a beautiful week of tutorials!

I never tire of garden tours……our own or my friends :-) Have you noticed there are no 2 gardens the same?!? We also live in the country on 35 acres. Thirty acres of Pacific NW rain forest and 5 acres to garden and share with our wildlife. As you can see, I am easily inspired by our surrounding nature :-) TFS your gorgeous gardens and country home. Nancy

  38. zindorfon 29 Jun 2008 at 4:31 pm

Lisa asked “Did you put a green tint filter on your camera?”
Lisa, nope did you any filter, this is what a garden looks like when it gets rain every day for about a month, lol.

  39. Laineeon 29 Jun 2008 at 4:32 pm

Michelle, your garden is absolutely amazing just as is your talent for creating beautiful cards. I would love to visit when I pop over from South Australia. You are truly an inspiration in more ways that one.

  40. Sandy in NHon 29 Jun 2008 at 4:37 pm

I just love your coneflowers and lavender! They add so much to your garden. It is so beautiful!

  41. Connieon 29 Jun 2008 at 5:31 pm

Michelle…your gardens are GORGEOUS! We have had perfect rain and weather for them this year!!! You’ve inspired me to take pictures of my Hydrangeas that are still blooming their heads off!

  42. Jayneon 29 Jun 2008 at 5:48 pm

Thank you for that tour. I’m a country girl at heart, so I really enjoyed that. I live outside DC right now…made me a bit homesick. I loved the flowers. Thanks for sharing.

  43. Janineon 29 Jun 2008 at 6:04 pm

Wow I love your garden - lavender, sweet peas and strawberries are 3 things our gardens have in common - mine however is not a country garden but one in a London suburb - I would happily come and sit on your seat and maybe some of your creativity would rub off. I did try your post it circles today - not for water but I am quite pleased with the effect. You can find my card here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/963512?cat=500&ppuser=132530. Thank you for sharing your garden and all your tutorials. I am not sure how you keep the garden looking so lovely!

Michelle … I can’t tell you how much I TRULY enjoyed my walk through your garden! Your gardens are beautiful! And, I am VERY impressed with your SweetPeas … awesome!! I too do a lot of perennial plantings … guess I need to take some photos … oops, no blog so I can’t share but I could make some cards with my photos! I’m in Akron so my coneflowers haven’t begun to bloom yet but yours are gorgeous!!! Nicely done … thanks for the heart warming walk. P.S. weeds? I didn’t see any weeds!!

  48. Susan Zon 29 Jun 2008 at 6:48 pm

Michelle, your gardens are lovely… aren’t flowers great? They give so much joy and beauty to the world!

  49. Laurieon 29 Jun 2008 at 6:57 pm

Hi Michelle, I hate to leave the leaves, but I am sure you will be on with something brand new just as quick as you can muster it up. Your garden is just beautiful. My beds are such a weedy mess that I nearly can’t stand it. Unfortunately I can’t get out there to do that kind of work, my back doesn’t allow it, and if I don’t, apparently no one does. I wish I was rich enough to hire a gardener! I can’t believe how in bloom your yard is. I live a bit directly north of you in Michigan, and my cone flowers are about 12 to 15″ tall, but not a single bud yet. Soon, soon.

  50. Debi Pippinon 29 Jun 2008 at 7:09 pm

Absolutely beautiful haven for birds and butterflies. Love what you have done in your garden. I am so envious mine does not look as well. Florida weather is hard on the plants here. I love orchids and they are doing well. My hummers visit daily and I just love to sit and watch them. We have a small pond and love to watch my leopard frogs jump and play. I have 2 koi and a nice sized plecostomus. We had to net the pond thought cause a heron had lunch one day and I had to replace Koi I had for the past 2 years. I love to see the pictures and you are a great photographer as well as a fine artist.

Michelle, your gardens are gorgeous! Your property looks so beautiful and tranquil. Thanks for sharing!

  54. Susan Fitzpatrickon 29 Jun 2008 at 10:42 pm

I am so glad that your tutorials have not done any damage to your garden. It is lovely! Being a fellow gardener as well, I know that they do take a lot of time. Having the perennials certainly helps with the yearly beauty, not having to replant each year it also cuts some of the gardening time down.. so you have the time for your tutorials! :)

  55. Margon 29 Jun 2008 at 11:47 pm

I love your garden! I really enjoy all the flowers, landscaping, etc. but I don’t like all the work. I just dream that other gardens could be mine.

  56. Mabeline G.on 30 Jun 2008 at 12:45 am

I have been a fan of your work for several months admiring all of your beautiful cards and tutorials. I just had to say how much I enjoyed viewing the pictures of your garden. They are absolutely one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve seen, sans bugs. There is a place called Huntington gardens which has a beautiful garden of roses. I can’t enjoy it because of all the bees and bugs. I’m so allergic to most bug bites, I have a hard time enjoying flowering gardens. Do your flowers draw bees and other creepy crawlies? :)

  57. Andreaon 30 Jun 2008 at 3:25 am

Wow, your garden is so wonderful!!

    xAndrea

  58. zindorfon 30 Jun 2008 at 5:12 am

Mabeline asked “Do your flowers draw bees and other creepy crawlies?”
Mabeline, it is the nature of a flower to draw bees and other insects, that is how they reproduce. So, yes my garden has lots of bees and other insects. :)

I love nature…all of it. Your gardens are beautiful and show us a piece of heaven right here on earth. I love looking around anywhere and seeing and enjoying what God has given us. Thanks for sharing your corner of heaven in your lovely gardens. *HUGS*
