Heart Felt Thank You - Tutorial #100

Published by zindorf at 6:49 am under Tutorials

dsc05460.JPG

Well this is my 100th tutorial!!!  Woohoo!  I just can’t believe it.  100 tutorials all since February 2008 when I first started this blog.   This card is dedicated to you, as a thank you, for encouraging me with your wonderful comments.  I have learned so much along the way too.

One thing, I want to give you a peek at before getting on with the tutorial.  This is a sample of one of the projects that will be created in the Dayton, Ohio workshop at Marco Paper on September 6th.  So join me, won’t you, and lets take the fear out of using that brayer and make some beautiful cards in the process.   Absolutely no prior brayer experience necessary.  :)   I’m keeping the class number to 8 per class so I can have lots of time to work with you individually.   You will also be sent home with a great set of stamps, Speedball brayer and other great tools.  All of this is included in the workshop fee.  Just a hint, register early before the locals get your spot.  Hope to see you there.

To register, please contact Marco Paper at  937-433-7030 or 1-888-433-5239 or website at  http://marcopaper.com/index.html

dsc054262.jpg

Oh yeah,  one more thing, I just have to share with you this photo of the staff from Marco’s Paper, lol. Yes, the tall person in the middle with great legs is Greg. He’s a good sport and always gets dressed up for the trade show theme. This year it was a “PJ Party” at the Stamp Away USA trade show.    Greg, that looks like way to much fun!

OK, on with Tutorial #100!

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up Lovely As a Tree & Holidays & Wishes, Cornish Heritage Farms Hinges
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue
Ink: Stampin’ Up Brilliant Blue, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Barely Banana, More Mustard
Accessories: Stampin Up Black & Gray Markers, Post it Notes, Brayer, Corner Round Punch, Gold Brads

dsc05463.JPG

Starting out with a 4.5″ x 4.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

dsc05435.JPG

Mask a little under half of the bottom of the card stock with a post it note.

dsc05436.JPG

Brayered on Bashful Blue ink at the top of the card stock.

dsc05437.JPG

Brayered on Brilliant Blue ink not covering the Bashful blue ink entirely.

dsc05438.JPG

Sponged Brilliant Blue ink at the top of the card stock very heavily to create some drama in the sky.

dsc05439.JPG

Sponged a bit of Black ink at the edge of the Post it Note mask to create a couple of hills in the distance.

dsc05440.JPG

Removed Post it note Mask.

dsc05441.JPG

Masked Sky area with a clean Post it Note.

dsc05442.JPG

Brayered on Barely Banana ink on the unmasked section of the card stock.

dsc05443.JPG

Tore a piece of post it note in a triangle shape to mask a section to create a road.  This is an experiment, I have not tried this before.  The sticky part of the Post it note is at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc05444.JPG

Brayered on More Mustard ink.

dsc05445.JPG

Removed triangle post it note, but left the post it note that is masking the sky on.

dsc05446.JPG

Sponged More Mustard ink in the middle of the Road.

dsc05447.JPG

Sponged Close to Cocoa ink in the middle of the road and the bottom of the card stock, not covering the More Mustard ink entirely.

dsc05448.JPG

Sponged Chocolate Chip ink at the very bottom of the card stock.

dsc05449.JPG

Took the Post it Note off of the Sky.

dsc05450.JPG

Colored in the middle tree with a black marker, huffed on it and stamped it.

dsc05451.JPG

dsc05452.JPG

Colored in the two trees on the right side of the stamp with a black marker, huffed on it and stamped it to the left of the first tree I stamped.

dsc05453.JPG

Sponged a bit of black ink under and to the left side of the trees to create a shadow.

dsc05454.JPG

Used my corner rounder punch on two corners of my main image panel and the Brilliant Blue panel that will go under it.

dsc05455.JPG

Stamped two hinges on with Basic Black ink and colored them in a bit with a gray marker.

dsc05456.JPG

dsc05457.JPG

Assembled card, added a gold brad to each hinge and then stamped my sentiment using Basic Black ink.

dsc05458.JPG

Here you have it, the conclusion of tutorial #100 with the finished card measuring 5.25″ x 5.25″.

dsc05460.JPG

May your day be filled with dreamy scenery.  Thanks again for your encouragement!

Until my next post. . . . . . . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Happy One Hundreth Tutorial!!! Beautiful creation which I am sure I will incorporate some of these techniques in the very near future. We always ask you for something so I thought I’d ask you, is there something we can do for you??? I live in dread that you may decide one day you don’t want to do this anymore and I would be heart broken if that happened. You’ve become a part of the beginning of each of my days. I’m off to work now but when I get home, I’m making me a road card!!!

Congrats on your 100th tutorital! Another wonderful card I love! I agree with Phyllis, I too live in fear you will stop these wonderful tutorials. It would be a horrible day for me too, since your art keeps me going! I think Stampin Up should just give you your supplies! I think I will e-mail them and make that suggestion. Or maybe I will just send you mine, since I can’t do anything much with them!
Thank you for the your kindness of sharing another Great Card with us!

100 - that’s a lot of tutorials! but each one is just as interesting as if it was the first. I fully enjoy going back and persuing them all.

  12. Dawn Froston 12 Aug 2008 at 10:01 am

Both cards are awesome! I have a playdate every Wednesday with a friend and I think we’ll be doing Lovely as a tree as well as the palm tree. I just have one question. How do you do the foam of the water. When I use my gel pen it just stands out so much, it doesn’t look like foam its more in your face bright markings on the card, LOL. I’ve tried several of your beach scenes with foam and would love to know how you do it. Thank you so much for the tutorials I’ve learned something from every one of them!!

  13. Anneon 12 Aug 2008 at 10:44 am

Oh Michelle!!! Just when I think you’ve topped yourself, you do it again!! Creativity must just seep from your pores! Definitely going to try this card I am getting better with my brayer, still no expert, but I am starting to love a tool I seldom used before! I shared one of your techniques with my stamp club and they are wanting to do more! Imagine that? Can any of us get enough of the Zindorf technique? I don’t think so! Thanks so much for all you do online!

First of all, Michelle, Happy 100th!!! Your artistic spirit and generosity are flowing today. This card is a showstopper! I love the complementary colors. And this road is so intriguing too…like where does it lead? Your scene is like a lovely book waiting to be opened, and your sentiment was placed exactly right at the apex of the road. Billowing clouds, a skyscape, and an open road calling. Awesome.

  23. Pattyon 12 Aug 2008 at 11:43 am
