Flourished Trees - Tutorial #106
I’m feeling a bit foggy today, not enough sleep, allergies kicking in. That could be why I picked to do a foggy scene, lol. In real life, this looks a bit more foggier (is that a word?). 
Photographing cards in the wee hours of the morning, when it is pitch black out, is a little difficult, but that is when I do my stamping and posting to this blog, so the photos are what they are. Thanks for understanding!
Well let’s get on with this foggy tutorial.
Supplies:
| Stamps: Innovative Stamp Creations “Artsy Victorian” & Impression Obession “Branches of a Tree” |
| Paper: Stampin’ Up River Rock, Not Quite Navy & Whisper White |
| Ink: Stampin’ Up River Rock, Always Artichoke, Not Quite Navy & Bordering Blue, Adirondack Lake Mist |
| Accessories: Versamark Pad, Brayer, Fine Detail Clear embossing powder, Brads, Ribbon, Not quite Navy Marker, sponges |
Stamped tree image by first loading my stamp with Versamark and then loading it with River Rock ink before stamping. Stamped it on a 4.5″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White card stock.
Heat embossed it using fine detail clear embossing powder and a heat gun.
Stamp the tree again using Versamark only, no ink.
Heat embossed it using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.
Stamped the tree a third time by loading the stamp with Versamark and then Lake Mist ink before stamping.
Heat embossed it using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.
Brayered on River Rock ink at the bottom of the card stock.
Brayered on Bordering Blue at the top of the card stock, leaving a light area showing between the River Rock and the Bordering Blue ink. This gives a foggy look to the piece.
Stamped Flourish with Bordering Blue ink at the right and bottom sides of the card stock.
Sponged Not Quite Navy ink at the top and right side of the card stock.
Sponged Always Artichoke ink at the bottom of the card stock.
Assembled card from and stamped the flourish again, only this time stamping it with Not Quite Navy ink. Note: When stamping over layers of card stock you will get gaps in your image. Be sure to stamp in a color that you have a matching marker for so you can fill in those gaps.
Filled in the gaps in the flourish image with a Not Quite Navy Marker.
Assembled card and here it is finished measuring 6.5″ x 5″.

I love this! I purchased the clear set from Obsession Impressions when I saw it in the group photo you showed us of what all you got at one of your trips. I love this set and was waiting for you to show me what can be done with it. Thank you for starting your day for us with such beautiful pieces. Hope you can over come your allergies.
I love the way you embossed the trees in different colours. Very effective. Sorry about your allergies. I hope they don’t get you too badly. And as always, thanks for sharing and doing your fantastic tutorials. They are so appreciated.

Love the foggy feel of this one. I’m always amazed when you stamp several layers and then say “just fill in with a marker”. As detailed as this flourish is I don’t know how you fill in so well. I couldn’t “fill in” if it was a simple line! Hope you get relief from your allergies soon! Take care of yourself! Thank you for all the work you do!

OMG Michelle I look at your post every day and I am just so much in love with the awesome work that you do. I have just one problem…I can not find my brayer anywhere! I am going nuts waiting to do some of these! Easy you say just go get a new one…no craft store for over 136 miles!! WWWAAAHH!

Ahhhhh, fall allergies, I know it is getting warmer/muggier here in the Cleveland suburbs (thank goodness for A/C!) my allergies are starting to kick in too!

Gorgeous card! I tried making one similar but had difficulty cuz Stampin’ Up does not sell River Rock anymore. The trouble with their “IN” colors is that they are not “in” very long. They do make gorgeous colors tho; get them while they’re hot!
Tomorrow they may not! Is it because of your artistic background in painting that makes you so unique in picking color combos? I probably appreciate this the most cuz I have problems in that area. Thanks so much!

Love this technique, though it is a little confusing to me being new at the versamark and brayer. As I understand you ink your stamp with the color and then on top of the color you add the versamark. I am going to try this as I thought the ink would come off the stamp if you applied the versamark to it.
