I need a little help. . . . . .

Published by zindorf at 9:01 pm under Uncategorized

This is a sad little post, but I thought what the heck, you readers are my cyber friends so here it goes. . . . . .

I am currently searching for a full time job for myself.  Anyone have any leads on job positions in the Dayton, Ohio to Richmond, Indiana area?  I can do anything from stock shelfs to bookkeeping, receptionist, secretary etc.  I am a very dedicated and hard worker.  Please let me know if I can provide you with one of my resumes.  Any leads at all are appreciated.

Huge Hugs to all of you!

Until my next post. . . . . .

Michelle

Hi, Good Luck in your search – try Craig’s List – it’s really good here in the DC area.

  2. Linda says:

    Michelle,
I am in the Boston area so I cannot give you any leads but Saint Joseph is the Patron Saint of workers. When I lost my job suddenly I prayed to St. Joseph and was sucessful in my search. You have a big family out here in cyberland and we can all pray for you to find work. I am confident that God will lead you in the right direction.
Please know that you are not alone.

Darn, Michelle, sorry to hear you need a job. One will come along! Your cards are beautiful, and there are thousands of us, I’d bet, that you bring joy and inspiration to everyday~ chin up!

  4. I’m sorry that you are in need when you provide so much to others. I’m in St. Louis so I can’t help you locally but I will offer up some prayers!

  5. Christina Franco says:

Michelle, we’re praying that you will find the right job…I’m sorry that you find yourself in such a position suddenly.

  6. Beth says:

    Michelle,
I too have found myself in your position at this time. I’m willing to do anything I can as well to help out my household.I even applied for an overnight position at Target. You can go online and see if they have any openings in your area. Khol’s does the same. Unfortunately, I am on the other side of the country so my leads wouldn’t help you any. Have you tried maybe a temp agency. It is kind of nice because you can take jobs for a short time frame and tell them no if you don’t want that one.
    Good luck to you!

  7. Amy S says:

I prayed for you and hope that you find a job that will fulfill your needs and be enjoyable to you. God Bless

  8. Stephenie says:

I know how this is! My hubby and I are both out of jobs! I am in nursing school so doing a little better than him (he works in architecture and engineering). I am in Lexington, KY, well Georgetown. If you like I can keep my eyes peeled for something in my area (I had a relative in Xenia who was 1hr.45mins away) so maybe it isn’t that far temporarily till the economy picks up? Let me know. I surely don’t mind looking in my newspaper, listening and looking on careerbuilder.
    Best of Luck!
    Stephenie

  9. Stephenie says:

I will also keep you in my prayers! Best to you.

  10. Kathy Kelsheimer says:

Michelle, I, too, will be praying for you and the job situation. You are so talented and offer such inspiration to many…thank you for sharing with us. God bless you and give you strength and encouragement …and a job!

  11. barbara says:

I wish you lived closer to the Columbus area….we have a clerical job available. Very stable company….located just off 270 and 23 North….in Worthington. I think it would be a very long drive everyday, but if you would like more information, please send me an e-mail. Good luck to you.

  12. Just popping in to say you just took the hardest step! Yeah! … I listen to the Oprah XM channel, and some of the advice given, for job searching, was to vocalize your needs.. Let people know.. Put it out there… And, by doing this, things happen!

I wrote down my ‘needs’ as part of my New Years Resolutions… On Jan. 2nd, I happened to vocalize my need to a friend, and poof! I start my new adventure tomorrow!

So with that… write it down, verbalize it, and be sure to let us know what happens!

  13. Bren says:

Oh, girlie, so many of us are in that position right now. Things are ridiculously crazy! I am looking for something, too, after almost 12 years of being out of an industry that changes every six months! Do NOT give up! You are way too kind and good and generous and smart and articulate. You WILL find something and something good that makes you happy.

Try Craigslist, Indeed.com and post your resume on Monster. I am pretty good at rehabbing resumes so if you would like a hand let me know via PM.

Good luck and keep us posted! Bren

  14. Marie says:

With your creative talent, maybe if you have a YMCA in your town you could see if they have any teaching positions available that you would enjoy? I have several friends who work there and the jobs they do vary from part-time to full-time. It’s just a thought. You would have to like kids though – those are the only classes I’m aware of here. You never know though – maybe there they have adult classes or at some other organization in your town they would hire you to do that kind of work? Best wishes to you, and you will be in my prayers.

  15. Susan says:

Hang in there. Saint Joseph is indeed the one to ask for intercessory prayers for employment. His prayers helped us greatly in our recent move across states. I’ll join my prayers with all the other readers.

  16. Lisa Foster says:

My prayers are with you. Hugs, my friend.

  17. Octavia says:

I am no longer in the Dayton area, but I would give WPAFB a try if there is not a hiring freeze going on. Trust you will find something soon!!!

  18. Suzanne says:

sorry I can’t help but I’m sending you big cyber hugs. I’m doing the job search too, it’s tough.

    big hugs!

    Good luck

  19. Sammie says:

It breaks my heart that you and so many others are in need of a job wow, it’s unreal. I pray that you Michelle and our other cyber buddies needs are met quickly. Since you mentioned Oprah, I will share one of my favorite sayings that I heard her say. She said,”God dreams bigger dreams for us than we can dream.” That is so true, God has the perfect job for all of you, His desires and dreams for us are big. Hang in there, it will get better.

  20. Debie says:

I am sending you some positive energy! All of our prayers and wishes are sure to bring you luck. You have so much positive karma with your talent-I’m sure the right job will come along. I live in Canada-but would love to have you as a neighbour (yes, we use ‘u’s) hehe. Good luck!

  22. laura says:

Wishing you lots of luck. as dedicated as you are to your blog I am sure you will be a valued employee.

  23. Hello,

I do not live in your area, but I will keep you in my thoughts and wish you the best in your search. You are so talented and have shared a part of yourself with each of us in these incredible tutorials that you create almost everyday. It really astounds me. I hope that you not only find employment soon, but it is in doing something that you will enjoy.

    blessings and peace,

  26. Sue says:

Good luck with your job search Michelle – I hope you find the right one very soon. Love Sue (UK)

  27. Kate Mc says:

Hi Michelle, I think you were very brave posting as you did and I really hope something comes up for you soon. Nobody on here doubts your dedication. I am in France, so can’t help in any practical way but I am sure something will come up. You have a lot of friends on here. I really hope you get offered some teaching as it is obviously your forte. Could you offer some workshops in your area as you have so many skills to offer? I am sure they would be very popular. I used to do this in the UK and all you need are your stamping supplies and a teaching space, something like a community hall is ideal and usually very cheap to hire. Not a full time solution of course, but could keep the wolf from the door for a bit. Either way, very best of luck in whatever you do and keep us posted.

  28. Lesley Ebdon says:

I too am from the UK and follow your wonderful blog quite avidly. I’m so sorry that you are in this position, along with many others both in the US and over here in the UK.

Obviously I can’t help in a practical way but my thoughts, wishes and prayers are with you. You deserve anything that makes you happy in return for the pleasure you give to others.

    Lesley Xx

  29. Janet says:

Michelle, i was so sorry to hear this and i wish there was something my way but as it is so many stores have closed the doors. I will be praying for you.Let us no if you need donations to keep your blog going or anything else that we might be able to help with. You have given us so much! ((HUGS))!

  30. Aimee says:

Prayers to you Michelle. It’s so hard to find a job these days, I’ve been looking for a while too.

You have such a unique talent though, would you be interested in doing more stamp classes on the road? I really think you could almost make that a steady source of income.

    Best of luck.

  31. Phyllis says:

Oh Girl, I hate this more than I can say. The one time you really need and ask for help, I can’t do much. Consider your talent as a resource! There is bound to be a way you can capitalize on your skill as a wonderful artist. The art you have created on your blog alone is proof of your abilities. Check out sign design opportunities. Some businesses require window designers, etc. If you have to look for a job anyway, why not one in a field that you REALLY enjoy??? Or, from past photos, you enjoy gardening and are good at it, try a nursery. Or you could do a bed and breakfast and include workshops! What an idea!!! Getting over the initial shock of needing a job is tuff but there is a silver lining. Keep your chin up Michelle, I know something will work out for you. God is watching over you, turn to him for answers and guidance.

  32. Irene Gauger says:

I certainlly hope that you find a fantastic job! I just love your blog…..You are a very talented person…..May God Bless you with a job! I will keep you in my prayers……

  33. Wendy says:

I keep my fingers crossed for you so that you soon will find a nice fulltime job. You are very talented!!

  34. Linda Watts says:

Michelle, I’m sorry you need to look for a new job, but I’m praying something even better comes along for you.
    Linda in NH

  35. barbara says:

You are so awesomely talented. WOW! Please submit a resume to the card and stamping magazines for position of some kind of contributing editor.
I pray that the perfect job is put in your path as soon as possible.

  36. linda says:

Sadly I can’t offer you any job…..because I live in the Netherlands!!
I wish you good luck with finding one (and hopefully for you, really soon!!)

  37. Gidget-Trish says:

Hi Michelle, I love Barbara’s idea above abut the card and stamping magazines. You have so much talent in this area that you would be a real asset to any job in that field. Good luck in your search. I’ll keep you in my prayers. *HUGS*
    Trish

  38. Randa says:

As I’m in South Carolina, I can’t offer much except to wish you good luck and to keep you in my prayers. I’ve recently been laid-off and I know how hard it is to put yourself out there again. especially after being at the same place for over 10 years. Please stay positive and know that we’re all pulling for you. Keep us informed of how it goes

Hugs and prayers going out to you.

  39. Mel says:

Michelle – I also live too far away to offer help, but my prayers are with you and your family in finding something soon. Don’t ever think you shouldn’t ask for help, especially with all your friends on here. You never know with all the folks that read your blog everyday, someone maybe able to help. Good luck to you.

Hey, Michelle. Sending good thoughts of hope your way. Have you considered looking for work that will take advantage of your incredible artistic talent? What about graphic design? I’ve had many friends with art degrees who are very talented as you are who have worked in the graphic arts departments at various newspapers, but most industry uses graphic artists in some capacity. Good luck, Michelle–I’m really pulling for you.

  43. Hi Michelle~

Just adding to the many well wishes others have sent your way as you look for a new job. Being on the west coast, I can’t be of any real help to you, but many of the ideas from others are outstanding. I know you’ll find something, and whoever you go to work for will be blessed beyond compare!

    big hugs & my prayers,
    ~jeanie.

  44. Michelle,
I believe networking is the best way to find a job. I do not know of any at this moment, but I do have connections in the Columbus area. I’ll check with them and email you any leads I find. To me your message is not sad, it makes me think of new opportunities – a new adventure!

    Sincerley,
    Take care and STAY POSITIVE!

  45. JaneAnn in CO says:

I am in Colorado, but just wanted to wish you well in your job search. I was thinking Marco Paper in Dayton would be FORTUNATE to have you!

Everyone in the Dayton area that shops at Marco’s should mention Michelle’s name when you go into their store, when you sign up for classes, etc.

    GOOD LUCK!

  46. MSBetsyZ says:

(((Michelle))) I know something will come up…for people who give as much as you do, something always comes up…keep the faith, baby!

  47. Ferah says:

I’m in CA, so I’m of no help other than to wish you the best of luck in finding something that you like soon. It WILL happen! (Now to go and follow my own advice.)

  48. StampinCathy says:

I don’t know of anything. I will keep you in my prayers that you find a job that will bless you. Prayers are so powerful when there are so many praying for you.
Keep us posted by cyber friend.

  49. Judy says:

Michelle, along with all your other cyber friends I am thinking of you and praying for you in your current circumstances that you will find just the right position. You have so much talent and creativity that I’m sure you will find some work that is fulfilling.
I live in Arizona and am not at all familiar with the Dayton area but it sounds like you are getting a lot of good advice here and you’ve done the right thing in putting out the word on your need.
    Wishing many blessings for you!

  50. Amy says:

Sending prayers and good wishes to you, Michelle. You are not alone in your search, but you are definitely a “good catch”. Any employer would be lucky to have you as part of their team. Keep an open mind and a positive attitude and something will happen.

We are all pulling for you.

    Big HUG!!!

    ~Amy

  51. kathy says:

I hope someone comes through for you or you find your full-time job yourself; these are tough times! I’m single & retired and my retirement fund keeps shrinking so I feel your pain. Good luck!

  52. I live in Canada so no hope there but you are so talented that I am sure you could write a book on bayer tutorials. You are wonderful and talented. Best of luck.
    Hugs
    Heather

  53. Linzie says:

    Michelle,

Sorry, but I live in Massachusetts so I can’t help you :( I will definately keep you in my prayers also. You really should have a large studio built off your house so you could have classes there and teach and sell products….That’s what your most Great at!!

    Good Luck, & God Bless,
    Linzie

  54. Germana Ferrao says:

    Dear Michelle,
I know I cannot help Physically, as I live in England, but I will keep you in prayer, and I know, As the saying goes “more things are wrought by prayer than the world dreams of” Keep positive, and you will be blessed with a job that you will be happy with sooner than you know, all my positive thoughts with you! Hugs always!

  55. Barb says:

A suggestion might be to check your local school districts for postings for positions.
Our local districts are always posting for Teaching Assts, Job Coaches, Teacher Aides and clerical positions.

    Wishing you the best ~

  56. Harriet Skelly says:

Hi Michelle. I’m keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that you find a job and one that you enjoy! I believe things happen for a reason and most likely an opportunity will come your way that you wouldn’t have expected. You are doing the right thing getting the word out! Hugs to you!

  57. Peggy says:

    Michelle,
so many people are in the same situation. Times are really rough for people everywhere. I hope you find job real soon. I live in the Chillicothe area but we are such a small little town and there is nothing here either. You are in my prayers as are so many of my friends. Good luck and God bless.

  58. Sandra says:

Michelle, try looking at USAJOBS.com. it is a website that lists all federal jobs. I know there is a VA Medical Center in Daytona and W-P Air Force Base as well. Look under admin or clerical. heck, spend some time looking at all the listings. You never know what you may find. Don’t let it discourage you that it will say that prior service will get priority. I know plenty of people that don’t have prior service.

let me know if you have questions. good luck.

    Sandra

  59. Cecile says:

    Hi Michelle,

I saw someone else kind of had this idea, but maybe you could check out the local community college and see if you can teach workshops? I know that some places offer informal classes, where people can learn anything from dancing to gardening to anything, so that would be wonderful.

    Best wishes.

    Cecile

  60. Denise P. says:

    Michelle,

I’m just south of Boston so I can’t be much help. I’m in the same boat, just unexpectantly got laid off after nine years. I wish only the best for you in your search. Keep the spirit, something will come along.

    ~hugs~

    Denise

  61. Rebekka says:

Michelle, I am so sorry to hear this, I will be praying for you. When I got laid off for 4 years I started a house cleaning business. I live in RI where there is the very wealthy and the very unemployed. Keep us informed.

  62. Linda says:

    Michelle,
    Try a Website called
    Simplyhired.com
It pulls in all the job from all the other search engines (monster, hotjobs etc.) so you can just search one site for all jobs. Works great here in Massachusetts. Also try hospitals they are always hiring for one thing or another. Get your foot in the door and then transfer when something more to your liking opens up. Healthcare is usually recession proof but even healthcare is struggling now. But still there are always jobs if only part time.
    good luck
    Linda

  63. Sandy K says:

I can’t help either. I’m in St. Peters, Missouri. My husband and I are trying hard not to have to let our girls go. I pray you find a job quickly as well as all the others that are in need. It is a rough time and we all must stick together. Thank you for all that you do for us. Isn’t it nice to have a Network?

  64. Judy Davis says:

It is a sad moment. I am so sorry. In the above are so many good ideas. I recommend checking with your local colleges regarding your art talent, see if they need any assistists; check for the same with…hospitals, rehap centers, local hobby stores. I so like the one suggestion to send resumes to stamping/art magazines, Craigs list and other various online sites. What about becoming a Stampin Up demonstrator, if you aren’t already.

Your talent will take you far. All my thoughts are with you. Hugs,

    Judy Davis

  65. Sandy in AZ says:

Good Luck with your search, Michelle. You are a good person and will find something.
Many states have offices to asist with job search. Out here, it’s called Arizona Workforce. They get jobs posted by employers who go to them first, and the that is the only place the job is posted, at least initially. They also do workshops to help write a winning resume and give all kinds of helpful info. Contact some of your state agencies and ask if they have something similar. I’m in the same boat, and know how you feel. Not a good time to be looking, but we’ll find something !

  66. Mary R says:

This isn’t full time but the Census is hiring all across the country. Most areas are testing at this time and jobs will start in the spring. BUT if there is a census office in your area, they do hire staff for the office. You can go to the US Cenus website and they list the numbers to call and jobs in the area. Good luck to you! I so love your creations – they have made me pull out that dusty old brayer!

  67. Cliare says:

I live in Canada way in the west so far away from you so not able to help around your area, but I figure since you have a computer have you ever tried medical transcription or law transcription through the net. They pay good money.

Also you are so talented, did you ever think of applying at your local craft stores, you could offer them a bonus by teaching classes to their customers.

My prayers are with you , good luck

  68. Cliare says:

    god bless all of you

  69. Gabriela says:

    Michelle
I hate to hear the sad news about your job !
You can try Hobby Lobby as an independent contractor for the classes.
They arrange everything and you just charge the fee and teach.
You are an excellent teacher, I can recommend you without any problems.
Also you can start making cards and sell them on your blog or on e-bay.
If you are looking for some administrative position maybe the unemployment office hires because they are bombarded with customers.
I will keep my fingers crossed and pray for you !
PS. you mentioned before you were seriously thinking at joining Stampin Up – maybe you can contact them instead and be on their design team.
You are so tallented and such a wonderful person – they should be stupid not to offer you some position.
    Best regards from Tennessee !
    Gabriela

  70. I’ll ask St. Joseph to help you out. I’m sure that someone who has given so much to others will not fail to receive good things in return.

  71. Carole says:

    Hi Michelle

Sorry that you need a job. I can’t help you from way back here in Canada but I cross my fingers and wishing you a good job that you will love!

  72. Cherie says:

Michelle, You do indeed give so much joy to the rest of us! You are truly our inspiration. Having all of us put you in our prayers has to make a huge impact. Prayer does wonderful things! Keep us posted!

    Kraftychic

  73. Kim P says:

    Michelle,
I hope you find something in your area soon. Times are indeed tough (and Ohio has been hit hard!)…but you certainly have many skills. Praying God blesses you with employment soon!! {{{HUGS}}} from Illinois.

  74. Angi says:

Sending BIG HUGS and prayers from Germany! Like so many have said, what goes around, comes around…you are such a giving person, I’m sure that something will come your way soon!

  75. Sharon says:

    Michelle,

I’m sorry I can’t help you since I’m in SF, CA but I do wish you all the best in your search. You’re so talented, would any of the local LSS be able to contract you for classes? Maybe they are not aware of your talents. Again wishing you the best!

  76. Rukhshana says:

Sending good wishes & positive thoughts to you from London, England. Things are just as bad this side of the pond. It will be a lucky employer who hires you.

  77. Kim Hensley says:

    Michelle,
I am in Columbus, which is probably a little further than you’re looking for but you can check out Nationwide.com to see if there are any jobs posted there you’d be interested in. Some are field positions and there might even be something you could do from home. Someone I know recently signed up to be a Silpada jewelry representative. She told me she’s been earning really well on her parties. She’s a very social person with a lot of contacts, and I’m sure you are too. I don’t know if this is something you’d be in to and there is probably an initial start up cost to get some product for shows but it might be a way to supplement another job (I’m sure you’ll find one) and you can make your own schedule.
At any rate, I’ll keep you in my thoughts and I know you’ll find something soon!

  78. Donna Lee says:

I work for AAA – a WONDERFUL organization.

AAA is a federation of auto clubs, so the club I belong to and work for here in Delaware is not the same legal entity as the club in your local area.

There is a national database for jobs with AAA. Go to http://www.aaa.com/jobs/opportunities.htm

You will be asked to type in your zip code. That will bring you to a site that has info about the jobs at your local club.

    Good luck!!

  79. You have been so gracious to share your techniques with us on your blogspot for free. I would have been happy to have made a contribution through paypal for all your hard work. I’ve gotten such wonderful inspiration from you. I’ve sent your name to a friend of mine in Ohio; she knows everyone! Perhaps she has a lead. I pray that you hear some good news soon. Bless you, Kathy the teawife (a Texas gal living near London)

  80. Adele in Las Vegas says:

Michelle, you are in my prayers! I am so sorry that you are going through this!

  81. Tonniece says:

Oh no Michelle, I so wish I was closer and in a position to be able to help you out. My place of employment closed the end of Nov. so I have an idea of what you and hubby are going through.
I have been a witness to your talent, hard work, and the loyalty and comittment you have shown to us (your followers) and I Know you will find something real soon.

  82. johanna says:

oh- sorry to heare, but i life in sweden and i dont think you want to move over her??? but i haven’t a job eather.
    God luck to you.
    johanna

  83. Jessica says:

You may want to think about a career with the Pampered Chef. There is little cost to start the business and they provide you with all the training you need for free. It is a home-based business, so you control how much or how little you make. You are your own boss. It really helped me when I had to leave my full-time job for a number of reasons and I had so much fun with it, that now I do it part-time still while working full-time as a paralegal. Please email me and I can give you more information. You don’t have to be a cook or even like to cook for that matter. It is really a business that anyone could do and you don’t have to worry about being turned down for the job! I would love to tell you more about it. Hope to hear from you soon!

  84. Adriene says:

I hope you find a good job soon. I sincerely appreciate all the time you take to make these tutorials and inspire all of us.

Your last work was in the non-profit sector, right? I’m in NJ, but I will ask some of my sorority sisters working in that sector if they have any ideas (np jobs are tough to keep in a bad economy, right?) or leads in your area. Until then, there are all the other good suggestions above for the other work sectors. I hope you find something good very soon.

    Good energy sent your way!

  85. katou says:

Oh ,I am sorry to hear about What happening to you.
I wish I be able to help you more but I am living in Paris (France)and it’s probably to far for you.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
    A big hug to you.
    Katou

  86. Kerry from PA says:

You might want to check with a temp agency. Although it’s not pleasant to be constantly changing jobs, when I was going back to school I did this and just about every place I went wanted to hire me full time. Things are definitely harder now with the way the economy is but it might be worth a shot.

  87. Adriene says:

    Michelle,

I contacted some of my sisters (one of which lives in Dayton!) about jobs in the NP sector (as mentioned above).

One suggested using the site: Opportunity KNOCKs for job postings.

The others are checking in with their contacts.

feel free to e-mail me (can you see my e-mail above? if not, let me know) anytime. This is the only way I know to get in touch with you (by posting to this blog).

Hopefully they will have some good leads to pursue.

    Hugs,
    Adriene

Hey Michelle, There have been lots of ideas out there but I haven’t seen this one yet. As an admirer of your artwork and techniques, I’ve always thought you could earn extra income if you created/sold a DVD of techniques you use to make your cards. I think people around the globe would be VERY interested and would pay money to see: 1) Brayer techniques (light to dark skies, land, beach scenes, lake scenes, winter scenes.. )2) sponging techniques (light to dark, creating mountains, shadowing), 3)colored pencil techniques 4) marker coloring techniques (especially blending) 5) masking techniques, 6)special effects/detail techniques (snow on trees or swirls – the extras you do with fine tip black markers, gold markers, white gel pen), 7) embossing techniques, 8)general card design layout techniques/pointers (when do I emboss first, layer 2nd or vice versa?), 9) color selection pointers – like the other day you said you like to work with only a few colors on the “gnome” so the colors don’t compete with one another), 10) layout techniques 11) working with unmounted stamps, vs acrylic vs wood mounted). 12) working with post it notes for shading, edges etc). I have studied your written tutorials and pictures to learn all this, but I would TOTALLY pay you to purchase a DVD and see it live step by step – especially since you have a WW fan club who can’t get to Ohio or the states where you teach. This would be a small investment, & you can sell it over your blog via pay-pal. You just have to make sure you have authority to use other manufacturer’s products for your personal gain (not sure how that would work, but you can get some legal advice.) If you did this, you could sit back and watch the bank account explode. Heck, don’t stop at one DVD – break it up and do a series. LOL – I for one would rather watch your stamping DVDs then exercise videos. Well sorry for the long note – I wanted to offer you as much creative thought as possible. GO FOR IT!

  89. Leana Ott says:

We’d love to have you in Alabama. I’m sorry for the hard times you are facing. I wish you the best.

  90. Leana Ott says:

PS I would totally love a dvd like that.

  91. Raine says:

Hi Michelle, I can’t help with the job search other than to send you some positive energy with the intention of you finding just the right job for you…asap. HUGS
And I’m in total agreement with Joanne. I’d buy that DVD in a heart beat!

  92. Beth Cutwright says:

Oh selfish me, I like that DVD option! :) Wish I could help you but am in Iowa nd a bit far for a daily commute. My prayers are with you and with the rest of those in need. I sure hope we get out of this mess we’re in economically! Good luck Michelle!

  93. Tonniece says:

DVD? GOOD GOLLY I SOOOOO WOULD BUY THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Go for it Michelle

The cards I bought are a big, no make that a HUGE hit with all my family and friends, (so much so they keep trying to sneak them out my door), but I just can’t part with ANY of them yet/EVER, and I know they would be thrilled to see you in action. ME?……………… I would be in heaven.

    Please think about it.

  94. dr fine says:

Dearest Michelle, I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I think you might have gotten some good leads from your many fans. Try going to your local park districts and see if they would take you on to teach some classes. A lot of them are looking for “arts and craft ” teachers for after school and evening hours. You could use down time for job hunting. They are also looking for daytime helpers in child care or to work with Senior groups. Some coffee houses or bookstores hire “storybook ladies” or someone to teach crafts to little ones or SAHM’s. This might help get you through until you can find something more to your liking. Hugs to you.

  95. Jen Dyson says:

Michelle! I hope the best for you. I am in the St. Louis metro area, so can’t offer you any help with leads here. My husband is looking too as he got laid off 2 weeks ago. I feel your pain! I would definitely take a class from you if you were in this area! DVD techniques would be awesome too. Keep hope, and someone will notice you! Best of luck. :)

  96. carol says:

Sorry to hear – give Marco’s a call (if you haven’t already) and they may have some contacts in your area.

  97. Eileen M says:

Oh, Michelle, I am sending you hugs from Minnesota! Look at this amazing fan club you have here. I, too, would jump at a chance to buy a DVD or 2 of techniques. I will keep you in my prayers as well.

  98. Candy says:

    Dear Michelle,
My prayers are added to all the rest. With so many prayers going up for you I am sure that God will give you a great job soon.
I am sorry I can’t help you as I am in Canada.
You give so much pleasure to all of us.
    Big Hugs

  99. Sharon W says:

I don’t have any job leads for you but I do have an award for you on my blog!! Your work is wonderful!!

  100. Vicki says:

    Dear Michelle,
I understand your situation and wish there was something I could do to help you. I am an employment counsellor in Ontario Canada. The economy is not good here also, so I understand where you are coming from. I loved reading all the advice your loyal followers have given you and I agree with Joanne- A DVD – or just investing in yourself is a great idea. If you need any help with your resume at all, I am willing to help. I know you will find work soon as you are so resourceful! All the best to you.

  101. Debbie Stelton says:

Oh Michelle I am in Phoenix Arizona so job wise I can not help but I will surely keep you in my prayers. I am sure you will find some thing very soon you are a hard worker and very dedicated I can tell this from you blog. Take care of yourself and God bless you.

  102. Judi Harvey says:

    Michelle,

I’m sorry to hear that you are unemployed. Who knows, this might be God giving you a push to start teaching more classes! He never shuts one door without opening another.

    Hugs!
    Judi / Seymour, TN

  103. Judy Davis says:

WOW…I love Joanne’s DVD idea. I would so buy them ALL. I would like to see a fund that all of us could donation to so as to help with the start up cost for the DVD series. Paypal with work well for you. You are such an artist and so creative. You have so much to teach all of us, so much to share with the world. I find your tutorials packed with so much information and in general easy to follow. Joanne’s advice is full of many details for you with DVDs. Should a fund start up for you, count me IN. Judy Davis

  104. Joanne says:

I knew it!!! See Michelle – people are totally into the DVD idea!!!Look how many virtual “orders” you have in just a handful of resonses – even if you charged a mere $10 bucks for it – you would have made $90 in 4 hours …….you should seriously consider producing it…COME ON BLOG READERS AND SUPPORTERS!!! Tell Michelle how much we want her to produce a DVD series…………..Michelle – Don’t undestimate the power of your God-given gift. P.S. I think you should produce it in your pajamas!! And to whet your appetit, here’s a suggested title for volume 1 – Freedom in Creating: the Zindorf Way! Imagine it….ok – now make it a reality girlfriend ; ) HUGS!

  105. carol says:

Michelle, You have planted such good will & creative energy to all of us who love receiving your wonderful & inspiring cards several times each week, I am confident some of that energy will ricochet back to you 100 fold.

That DVD idea is a wonderful idea. Simply go back through all of those tutorials & place them on 3 DVDs. Just all of us on your blog-line would purchase whatever you were producing. You could still have fun sending us photos of your latest creations, just as you do now. AND you could add those step by step directions to the ÎVD directions. Love that idea!!!

Also, how about sending several of your creations using SU! items to the SU! creative dept. Maybe they would consider hiring you — long distance — for their creative team. Anyway, they should. Call SU! during work hours — mon-fri @ 1-800-stampup — & ask to talk to the creative director OR, heck, even to Shelly Gardner. I will bet they would be delighted to see you take their simple products for beginner stampers to the next level & beyond!!!

Please let us know what ideas you follow through on & how the major ones develop, will you.

I, too, believe the good Lord does not force major changes for us, without providing us with a silver lining — or better options than we had previously.

I am also in CO & a SU! demo — one of those who is not a hot shot salesperson, but rather her own best customer!!! — who would love to have you be on the SU! creative staff & be part of the regular, monthly contributors to SU!s monthly trade magazine & also be part of the creative team of presenters at all of the SU! conventions/regionals/ districts/ etc, etc, etc. Do call them & tell them what you have to offer, incl the large number of us who receive & love those many creative items you send us regularly.

Good luck. Please keep us informed of the progress of these creative endeavors, will you?

My very best to you, my most positive energy is directed to you, & my prayers join the prayers of all of your blog family.

    Sincerely,
    Carol — also in COlorado

  106. Sammie says:

I checked in a wrote some comments earlier, I’ve been thinking about you and your gifts. You are not only artistic but such a giver, you share your talent on those awesome tutorials without asking for a dime. Now it’s time for us to pay you for your instruction….. I so agree with what Joanne suggested, a DVD or actually several. I would buy them ASAP and so would many new and advanced stampers. To start selling quickly, I think you could make them w/o spending much money, just the cost of the actual DVD. You could just copy the tutorials you’ve already done and divide them by technique like Joanne said. I would love to have a DVD with that information on it. I would attend your classes but I live in TX and can’t afford the cost of an airline ticket and hotel. Buying a DVD with your tutorials would be a blessing, I would buy them in a second.
I’ve gone on long enough with this thought, I hope by now you know that you are a blessing to us all and we appreciate you. I will continue to pray for you and the job that fits you and your situation best. : )

  107. melissa says:

I don’t live in that area. But….I was laid off from a job that I was at for almost 19 years late October. I worked parttime and then full time. I started while I was in college working up to store manager. So seeing as I have been looking for 3 months almost and thought it wold be a no brainer finding a job, I’ve got skills , who sticks around that long anymore? …I was wrong I am finally getting calls after holidays. Luckily with my tenure I had 12 days pay and 5 weeks vacation to tie me over. My biggest advise….DON”T wait for things to come to you. Hit the pavement go to Jobing.com, monster.com, and careerbuilder.com Call your local friends, people you may go to church with, places you normally shop talk to everyone you may know locally. Most places don’t advertise in papers nowadays. And if you don’t hear from people do follow calls or emails. I am hoping in next month I have a job so I don’t have to hit mom or dad up, or even touch my 401k, or what’s left of it.

I hope God finds you that job you were destined to have as I pray he has that job just waiting for me that I was destined to have.

  108. Hi Michelle,
You have been a favourite of mine since I started stamping. I LOVE your work and had wished I lived in th US so I could attend a workshop, I’m in Australia. The DVD idea is a real winner! I would LOVE to see your tutorials in action – what you give us on your blog is sensational – but I admit to feeling a little scared of your awesome talent. Maybe you could use the time while you search for a job to make the DVDs – there is nothing more soul destroying than doing nothing while you try to start up! They say it’s easier to find a job of you’re busy!! Just a thought…..and it would benefit me and countless others… Take care – you’re in my thoughts!

  109. Stephanie P says:

You are smart to keep it real. Although the DVD idea is a nice sideline idea, and I truly would encourage it along with everyone else, it may be a secondary step as it requires an investment in $$ and I am assuming right now you’re looking to bring cash in rather than put more out right now. God bless and I hope and pray you find the right job for your immediate needs ASAP and that you are able to follow up with your artistic endeavors, including a demonstration DVD!

  110. Janet says:

Oh Michelle i think the DVD that Joanne sugested would be wonderful! It would give all of us a way to pay you back for all you have given us. This could branch out to magazines and more people. You have so much talent you just need to take the first step. I do not no if a SU demo would be able to do this? But i for one would buy everyone you made and i no there alot of the ladies on here that would do the same. I will keep you in my prayers that something will come your way.

  111. Renilde says:

    Hi Michelle
I live in Belgium and I’m a fan too of the fantastic cards you make!
In Belgium it’s also hard to find a job those times. I have read the suggestion from Joanne with the DVD or a serie of 3 DVD’s, that’s better ;) I think you must go for that, I would buy them for sure, so think it over that you can shipping over see… I have many friends in the stampingworld so…
    big hug, Renilde

  112. Jlynn says:

Michelle, I believe Joanne and Sammi are onto something with the DVD idea. As good as you are at what you do and with the number of people who follow your blog world wide, I am certain that you could achieve much success in such an endeavor. One other thought is that maybe you could check out American Greetings and/or Hallmark Cards to see if they have anything available for designing cards at home for submission for publication, as well as the numerous stamping magazines out there, they may be interested in paying you for tutorials. I live in NY State, which is in dire straights so no help with any leads on jobs, but I wish you the best of luck in your search.

    Jeanine

  113. Celia says:

Sorry that the economy has affected you as well. I like the DVD idea as a way to keep busy, make money, and expand your skill set. I assume you have listed your blog on your resume. It’s an impressive accomplishment. I don’t think you should align with a multi level marketing company right now. I think it might restrict what you can do on your own. And I am very leery of MLMs as a business model.

Another option would be to put kits together of the materials you use to create cards and sell the kits. Perhaps you should put that together in the form of a proposal and present it to Ranger Industries or Sunday International. Can you get to CHA and network in the craft industry? I don’t know the connection between Ranger and Tim Holtz and I am thinking of a Tim Holtz type job. Ranger also provides workshops to store owners, etc. They are taught by product developers like Holtz and Weinberg, but you could move a lot of their inks and they should develop a matching paper line. They’re in New Jersey I think.

You have the organizational skill, teaching skills, artistic skills, web skills already in place. Obviously there are other companies: Marvy Uchida, Superior, maybe Clear Snap. The people at RubberStampmadness may be helpful. They would probably be excited about featuring one or more of your blog tutorials as an article. StampersSampler might also be interested. She started her publication from scratch around 1991.
You obviously have skill, talent and initiative as well as a body of work that should open doors for you. Do your networking within the craft industry and use your blog as a door opener. I think you should go to CHA and bring a portfolio of your work and a marketing proposal and a sample article. Approach big companies that could invest in this concept and sell nationally. Archivers is a retail chain that may want workshops. Sunday International could use a SplitCoast style stamp site. You could pull that together. You get hundreds, maybe thousands of hits on your web. You are already positioned to do somebody a lot of good. You have connections with Marcos. How do they suggest you break in the industy? Who do they consider strong players? Suze Weinberg has carved out a career. Once she did calligraphy and bar mitzvah invitations. She’s done videos. She has product now. I bet she would spend time on the phone with you. Magenta out of Canada is a company that had some rapid growth, but is no longer very dominant. They are exceptionally strong artists, but you would fit in and yet you are really different from their approach.
Create a business card for yourself that lists email address and blog site. Use that when you are at CHA and enclose it in inquiry letters. Cindy Petal organizes the stamp convention in Cleveland, OH, and Connie (Stamp Your Art OUt, but I forget her last name Houser, maybe) does the convention in Columbus. They might offer you some insights and contacts. They may offer you workshops to teach as well. Auntie Mamie’s is running conventions too. Marcos could connect you with all of these people.

I think you are going to have a chance to be busy and productive right now and maybe set your career on a completely different course. At the same time you can pursue more traditional jobs. Everything is wide open right now. Dream big, take it step by step and expect lots of setbacks, but eventually all will work out. It always does. Good luck, Celia

  114. Charlene says:

    Hi Michelle
I sent you an email yesterday but I clicked reply when I wrote you back so I don’t know if you got it. Now I realize that I have to come to the web page to respond. I had suggested Criegs list. So many of my friends have found jobs that way. I am not Catholic but one day I called a friend and told her that I lost my glasses in the parking lot and couldn’t find them. She told me to pray to one of the Saints and repeat over and over my request. Sure enough I found them! With so many friends on your blog praying for you believe and leave it Gods hands and believe that he will find the right job for you.

  115. Celia says:

Michelle, you might also be in a position to buy/create a stamp line. You would have more sales success than most of those little companies have. It could be a second job for you since you are already doing the blog. In the internet age, you don’t need to live in New Jersey to do workshops for Ranger, but you would be an independent contractor, not an employee. With finance skills, you could look at tax preparer, CPA avenues. I took training from H&R Block. No immediate money; you build up clientele. The training was $50. If you pass a test, they then offer you a computerized training on their system and the opportunity to do tax work in April. You have missed it this time, but you could look into it. I took the class simply for the knowledge. It’s the start of a path. I am a certified financial planner and have been for more than a dozen years. That career path is easy entry, a ton of work and licensing at the beginning, incredibly long hours and not much money, but eventually worthwhile. 80% of people drop out. This kind of financial market puts a real dent in income which is based on fees and commissions, no salary. Essentially, you build your own business.

Training depts in large companies might be impressed with the blog tutorials. My experience is the older you get, the more entrepreneurial you need to become if your goal is high pay. More education is almost always a good investment. But there are probably too many lawyers and MBAs. Hospital admin, nursing home admin. are probably growing fields. Should you use this time to start a degree, finish a degree, get a certification?

  116. kathy says:

Gosh – it’s so hard when someone who gives so much also ends up in need. I hope that the universe cradles you and gives back quickly.

Someone else mentioned your fondness for gardening – I know friends who have created beautiful gardens – only to have passersby start requesting their design services. You could make up a sign to put in your yard and print up some business cards for Garden Design Services – or even garden maintenance services.

Your blog is fabulous – how about hiring out website/blog design services.

And, of course, there is teaching on a larger scale than you are currently doing. Perhaps you can get yourself into some of the larger art retreat workshops – or partner up with some other teachers and set up your own.

I realize none of these are immediate solutions like a job with a paycheck. But they are things that you could perhaps set in motion so that you could phase yourself into work that is meaningful for you – and in the shortrun do the waitressing, clerical, McDonald’s or ‘whatever’ thing to get that paycheck going while you’re creating the longterm, meaningful work.

If more ideas pop into my head I’ll be sure to come back and share them. One thing I have always heard when you are looking to fulfill yourself with meaningful work is to cater to the wealthy! They spend more, appreciate quality and personal attention, and are less impacted by economic fluctuations.

    My best wishes to you,
    Kathy

  117. kathy says:

Oooh – I just connected two ideas into one!

I’m sure you could create amazing personalized invitations, announcements, etc. Take a look at some online invitation services and what the current styles are. The ones that cater to the stars make amazing creations and are paid handsomely for it. Perhaps you could find an ‘in’ through the local country club or Chamber of Commerce or maybe you could make up a sample portfolio for local catering venues who handle weddings and bar mitzvahs and the like.

Again, many good wishes for you,
    Kathy

  118. Kathleen says:

    Hi Michelle,

I was so sorry and sad to read your post. You are such a giving and talented person and I hope you find an excellent job to match your skills.

I am with the gang that would buy a DVD in heartbeat from you (even though I’ve had the honor of attending two of your classes in Sunny California).

I have a friend who works at WPAFB and will ask him on Monday if he knows of any openings in the area.

LOTS of hugs and appreciation for all that you do for us.

    -Kathleen

  119. Shawn K. says:

    Hi Michelle,

I don’t have any leads…just prayers for you to make it through this difficult time with the grace that you seem to bring to everything else.

    Take care,

    Shawn K.

  120. Pat Marsh says:

    Hi Michelle,

I am so sorry to hear of your plight because you’re such a ‘giving’ person and an excellent teacher. I have a suggestion… check out the schools in your town and check to see if they need substitute teachers. I am from the Dallas(Texas) area and work for the school district in one of the suburban towns and substitute teachers are always needed to fill in for regular teachers during absences, teacher development, etc. Hopefully this will fill the gap until you can find something more permanent or apply for your teaching certificate and become a permanent teacher – I think that is your vocation!

Good luck and I will always say a prayer for you. Thanks for all your tutorials!!

    PatM.

  121. tera says:

Being an RN, I thankfully don’t have too much to worry about for jobs but one thing we always need more of in the hospitals is support personel – many days we work in our ICU without a secretary and it gets hard to take care of patients for the phone ringing!!!! The business end of the hospitals is a good place to look for admin type jobs but often if you are interested in working on the patient care units – answering phones, restocking and ordering supplies, (or even putting orders in the computer and some simple patient care tasks) often hospitals will train you as you go. We seem to never have enough hands!!!
    Good luck and God Bless!!!

  122. JILL S says:

Hi Michelle, I read your blog yesterday and was thinking about your need for full-time work. It occurred to me how here in the UK as a whole we are far behind you our US friends in the crafting world. We do have loads of enthusiastic and talented crafters here but things generally behind the US. I do not personally have any contacts but I am sure the UK magazines would break your arm (!) to have some of your work and /or tutorials showcased in their magazines. Personally, after having found Splitcoast Stampers, (including those who share their work there – like yourself), our UK magazines just don’t make the grade for me! Maybe it could be worth a go?

    Wishing you all the best

  123. Chickadee says:

Oh Michelle, I do hope you would consider the dvd idea! I would pay for one in a heartbeat.

And maybe we could order them on a “preorder” basis, to help offset your production costs???? I would happily do that, and I am sure others would too, because your commitment to your blog and your spirit of giving without asking for anything in return. It is such a testimony to your strength of character and I would never worry that you wouldn’t be able to provide us with a final product.

Many prayers going out to you now…hoping some smart stamping company will snap you up in a heartbeat as they should!

    (((hugs)))
    Chickadee

  124. Terri says:

    My dear cyber friend,
I hope and pray you will find something soon…I really like the DVD idea!!! Sign me up, girl!!!! If $$$$ for production are a concern, perhaps the Small Business Administration has a program to fit your needs. Please keep us posted….you are loved and appreciated more than you know.

  125. Janet Sisk says:

I don’t live near you, but I work as a Para Educator for a school district. If you think you would like to work in a school environment, there are several different kinds of jobs in that area. You could work with special ed. as a para professional or lunch room or bus aid or janitorial. Different positions require different education or experience, but it may be worth looking into. Hope you have luck finding something.

  126. Darsana says:

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about the pain of a job search. I will check with my company branchs out there and see if they are looking for any in house help. If so, I will send them directly to you, or vice, versa. I wish you all the best in your search and I know that only the best will come for you. In the meantime, you should check with you local scrapbook, stamp stores to see about classes, your tutorials are fantastic and I think you could make a fine living doing what you do for all of us here. Maybe you are doing this already, I don’t know, but if you have to work, you might as well do something that you enjoy, right? Much love and super hugs your way.

  127. Tammy says:

Sorry to hear you are in need of a job. I hate that the economy is in the dumpster right now myself. Here are a couple of ideas that may help you. Have you tried contacting AccountTemps or OfficeTeam? They pay all of the fees, so there is no cost to you. They are a Robert Half International Corporation. I have a friend who works for them and I have used them in the past myself. They will interview you and give you a typing test, etc. The benefits of checking with an organization like this, is that it often leads to a permanent job. Plus a temp position would still give you time to do your artwork.

I have a neighbor who works for Kohl’s Department store as a stock person. It is very hard work and is a night job. She finds lots of great deals on close out merchandise and sells what she purchases at our annual neighborhood garage sale.

Good luck with your job search and I would love to see your resume. I sometimes volunteer to critique resumes and interview local high school students to give them some ideas on what it will be like when they look for work in the real world. If you are up for some constructive comments on your resume, I’d be glad to give you some tips.

Anything to help a fellow artist!!!

    Hi Michelle,
I am with the crowd that would happily buy your dvd(s)!! And I think the pre-order idea to help off-set production costs is great! I wish you great luck with your endeavours, we here in Australia are facing hard times with job lay-offs and people losing homes and businesses, it is just a really sad state of affairs. You are a very talented and giving lady, and I thank you very much. I have made a few of your cards for my friends birthdays and they have loved them, I would love to see you make a successful business out of your talent. Please keep us updated…..
