NAME THAT BIRD CONTEST! STAMPIN’ UP STAMP SETS PRIZE!

Published by zindorf at 7:23 am under Uncategorized

This is my brand new Parakeet who will be keeping me company in my stamp room.   He doesn’t have a name yet.  My Husband, Russ suggested I make it a contest on my blog to name the little guy.  So here it is, leave a comment making a suggestion on what I should name my new bird.  I will pick the winning name and reward the person that suggested the name with two, that’s right two Stampin’ Up sets, Botanical Blooms & Yummy.

If you are getting this blog update by e-mail, you will need to click on this link to leave a comment:  http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2009/06/23/name-that-bird-contest-stampin-up-stamp-sets-prize/

A couple of things about the bird, he is a very young male Parakeet.  Prodominately “Tempting Turquoise” in color with a bit of Going Gray and Whisper White.  How is that for a description?   Do you talk in Stampin’ Up colors too?  He will reside in my stamp room.

Now come on and get creative with the names.  I cannot wait to read them and I’m sure the bird would like a name, lol.  I will select the winning name on Friday, June 26, 2009.

Good luck everyone!

Huge Hugs,

Michelle

  1. Janine says:

Beautiful bird. I did a little search on Turquoise and apparently there is some from Arizona called Bisbee Blue so perhaps your little guy should be called Bisbee. Janine

  2. Phyllis says:

How about Bubba Blue? Or even Tex or Cowboy? Pretty Boy would work too. Thanks for the opportunity to name your newest edition and to win TWO SU sets!

  3. Dawn Knight says:

    Frank… he just looks like a Frank…

  4. Cheryl Sims says:

Not very original but how about “Stamper” since that is what you do and where he will live. He is beautiful and reminds me of the birdy that my Nana had. You will enjoy him very much.
    Cheryl Sims

  5. Ly says:

I’d suggest to call him Freaky-Tweety!

  6. Gidget-Trish says:

What a gorgeous bird! I’m trying to think in stamping terms and came up with the name Jiggy from the Stamp-a-ma-jig. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be talking to him all the time. He’ll be great company. Enjoy him! :D
    Trish

  7. Renae says:

What about Bella Bird as in the DSP? It’s sort of girly, but I don’t think he’d mind being named after such beautiful paper :)

It could also be Turq as in Tempting Turquoise since that’s the first color that popped into my mind when I saw him.

  8. Mel says:

Hi Michelle – Beautiful bird. Since your favorite tool when working is “Brayer”, I think that would be a cool name for him.
    -Melba

  9. BJ Beaver says:

Blue Parakeet hum……….how about Keith. That’s what my 8 year old says. I don’t know a good stampy name. He is cute. Hope he has lots of personality. We had one that was full of personality and the other rather dull. The first was more fun.

  10. Véronique says:

Hello Michelle. What about Magnetic ? like a Pacific Island where live this sort of bird ? And it’s also the sensation I have when I saw him… Wonderful !!!

  11. Kathy L. says:

Personally I think you should name him Bird! I have friends who have a parakeet and a dog. The parakeet’s name is Bird and the dogs name is Dawg. It’s very amusing and everyone can remember their names! Of course I have 4 cats so I did have to give them identifying names beyond just Cat :)

  12. Terri Semon says:

Hey Michelle…I’m thinking he looks like a Mojo…. he will give you hours of fun and inspiration…

  13. Kristy says:

In Australia, we call those birds Budgies, so how about “Budge” ???
    :)

  14. Julie says:

How about Buddy. He’ll be your stampin buddy and “Buddy” just rolls off you tongue.

  15. Julie says:

Opps, here’s the right email address.

  16. Lisabee says:

Well I think that the person who suggested Jiggy was spot on…Great name! LOL!

But since I’d love to win I’ll still suggest…RAK…You are great about sending out the sweetest RAK’s…so why not name him RAK…besides…I know a lot of birds that make the sound “RAK” anyways! LOL!

  17. I would say : Blue Nose… it’s the sailboat on the Canadian 10 cents pieces. (Excuse my poor english.)

  18. Margaret says:

What do you think of Blue Inky.
I’ll think it is a nice name for a blue bird in a stamp room.

  19. Jen Watkins says:

    Here’s a couple:

    “Embo” (for “embossing”)
    “Inky”
    “Inky-Dinky-Doo”

or my family’s all time favorite name for a pet fish is “fred”. (We have had several, all named “Fred”. :)

What ever name you choose, he sure is pretty!

    Jen

  20. Oh there have been some good ones mentioned! I like Stamper and Jiggy but the best has to be Brayer. How about Mr. Inky?
    Congrats on your new friend!
    Hugs,
    Elizabeth

  21. Adele Lott says:

How about “Rubbah” (rhymes with Bubba). (?)

  22. Brenda says:

How about “Mikey Blue”. It sounds like a color and he looks like a Mikey.

  23. Peggy L says:

I didn’t go through all the suggestions, but I did see the Brayer was chosen. However my idea is Brayer Boy – or B.B. for short.

  24. Colleen says:

I like the name Dookie. I don’t know why, but if he dances to music it may make sense.

  25. Susan says:

    Sweetie or Sweetie Pie

  26. Kristi says:

Wonderful! I love birds. Parakeets are my favorite. I have name. How about ʻekekeu (e-kay-kay-u). It is Hawaiian for wings. Hope you find the perfect name. Have a wonderful week! :-)

  27. Phyllis says:

He is a very handsome fellow. I would call him “Blogo”
Since I am sure he will be helping with all those tedious uploads to your wonderful blog. LOL
    Phyllis J.

  28. Diane G says:

Stamperkeet is my choice for your beautifuls bird’s name.

  29. Rochelle says:

Michelle ~ I used to have a parakeet that looked just like your precious new friend….his name was Tweety…..but I’m suggesting “Freedom” for your name. Freedom will be with you while you’re creating :-)

  30. Deb Kaehn says:

The minute I saw the picture of your new little bird, I thought of “Turquiose Tweetie”. Hope you like my choice!

  31. Michelle,
We are new to each other although I did ask you a question a long time ago about the bare tree you used in your brayer back ground tutorial.

I grew up in Corpus Christi, TX and we used to raise parakeets in two big 6 ft aviaries in the backyard. This shade of blue is one of the most popular choices.

My name for him would be “Baylor”…for the blue waters of the Bay of Corpus Christi (His color reminds me of water) and you could call him Bay-be when you wanted to really sweet talk him as a play on the Baylor name.

We have gone to Spanish names for our three cats and you could call him “Azul Amigo” (Blue Friend) if you wanted to do that. (I know that is two suggestions but I couldn’t help myself.) He is so cute and they really cheer a place up. Be sure to let him fly around the room some every day. They need the exercise and it is good for their hearts and he will live longer. Can’t wait to see his little beak marks as an embellishment on one of your cards : ) They love to chew on paper! LOL

Good luck on the naming quest.

    Martha

  32. Dawn W says:

Brayer!!! :) cause that is what you like to do on your stampin up projects.

  33. Diane Gibson says:

    Michelle,
He’s definately “Baja” or “Mr. Bay”. The blue is awesome!
    Diane

  34. Elaine says:

    Kevin.

Mostly because my husband and I know a Whippet (dog) named Kevin, and we like to state that at random intervals, anytime we hear the name Kevin. “Your name is Kevin? I know a Whippet named Kevin.”

I know a parakeet named Kevin.

  35. Pat Garvin says:

I think he’s an initial looking kinda of guy. How about E.P. or How about Scrappy Al.
I have one that looks just like him but.

  36. Verena Knust says:

I think he looks like “HANSI”

  37. Susan says:

How about Braden – he is a beautiful boy and I know will bring you lots of joy!

  38. What a beautiful bird!!! His colors are amazing! Reminds me of the Caribbean! How about calling him “Caribe”? or “Caribbean Joe”?

  39. Elaine says:

    Oooh — better idea: Muse.

  40. Denise M says:

I like Inky for your new little friend. Or how about just Birdie? I’ve heard that birds respond to names that end in “y” or “ie”.

  41. Joyce L says:

‘Stampin Peetie Bray’ is my favorite name for him

  42. Jenny says:

Hugs (one of your trademarks) — Simon Says — Pete the Parakeet —- Pretty Bird
You could teach him to say any of these! Enjoy your new little buddy!

  43. chrisd says:

What about Tipper as he does have a tip of aquamarine or teal near his beak and that tip of gray on his tail. He’s a beaut!

  44. KreatesKards says:

    Here are some suggestions …

    Bleu
    Brodie
    Stamper or Stampy
    Doodles
    Houdini
    Tweety (from my husband)

Here’s a site with even more:
    http://www.boogiepets.com/pet-bird-names/
The site did mention that a shorter name is preferable (1 or 2 syllables) to make it easier for the pet to recognize their own name.

    Beautiful bird.

  45. Terry says:

I think “Scrapper,” would be a great name!

  46. Janet B says:

HOw about Bijou Blue? I love how that rolls off my tongue. He’s just beautiful.

  47. Gail says:

Hi Michelle! I think you should call him “Ranger” – one, because you often use Ranger inks in your classes, and two, for your favorite blog site about the cattle range. Any name you call him will be great – he is such a beautiful bird. Great job in picking such a colorful and beautiful stamping companion (and he won’t shed!).

    Hugs!
    ~ Gail

  48. Lindastamps says:

    How about Oscar.

    How about BOY BLUE
    Hugs Diana

  50. Lynda says:

    Hi Michelle,

Pretty pretty bird. I know you are going to enjoy his company.

I think the perfect name for him is “Blogger”.

Whatever you name him.. he is a lucky bird to llive in your creative world!

  51. Heather says:

He is beautiful! Blue is my fav color, any shade :)

    Heather

    Azul
    Thunderbird
    McFly
    Breeze
    Icarus
    Woodstock

  52. NH Mary says:

Mmmmmmm, your birds name has to do something with stamping to go along with you

    BaJa – after Baja Breeze

    Enjoy!

  53. Darsana says:

Michelle, I love the names Brayer and Mojo! I was going to suggest Brayer myself, but it was already suggested. For a twist on that how about Donkey….. It’s related to brayer, and there’s always the line from Shrek…”That’ll do Donkey, that’ll do!”

  54. Heidi says:

How about Bray? Short for Brayer of course.

  55. Michelle Hoger says:

He looks just like a parakeet we used to have many years ago. We let him fly around the house, and he liked sitting on the windowsill and watch the birds flying around the yard. After a while, he started to imitate those wild birds, besides what we taught him to say. You’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of him. For a name, I thought of Admiral William Byrd…”Billie” for short.

  56. Beth Rue says:

    Good Morning!

I think he or she is a beautiful bird; so. how about Beauty!

Thank’s for the great weekend in Webster!

    Beth

  57. Ginni says:

Excellent suggestions so far … Love Turq, Brayer and Inky …. so I’m thinking hard here ……. how about how about ‘Boss’ … as in emBOSSing. Then if someone is bothering you, you can say “The Boss is calling me, gotta go!’

    LOL!

    Ginni

  58. Marilyn Hertenstein says:

Darn, all the names I thought of are already listed, except ZeeBee, which would be short for Zindorf Bird

  59. sharyn says:

    Hi Michelle
A very lovely bird. My choice for a name is “Timmy”

    Hugs Sharyn

  60. Beth Rue says:

I didn’t read all the other suggestions, but I do have one more….Stamper!

Thanks for the chance to win.

    Beth

  61. Cathy Green says:

I immediately thought of Buddy. Since he’s in your stamp room you now have a stamping Buddy!

  62. Teresa says:

    How about Sugar?

  63. Dina Carroll says:

I’m thinking of 2 names for you to think about… the 1st is Turk (although you could spell it Turq) I think this name is for obvious reasons. The 2nd choice is Copic, just because it’s appropreiate in our crafting world. I hope you choose either of these names just because they really work, but the stamps sets would be great too! Lol!

    Thanks,
    Dina

  64. I also speak in Stampin’ Up Colors! Before even reading your post I thought to myself…Tempting Turquoise. So using that as my inspiration…

Sir Tempi Turq (sounds noble doesn’t it?)

Thanks for the chance to name your sweetie tweetie!

  65. Caterina says:

He looks so very much like a bird we had as kids who was in the room with a replica of Gainsborough’s painting, Blue Boy so… how about Pretty Blue Boy.

  66. Mary says:

so many names to pick from, I would say Sky or skylark, he reminds me of a clear blue sky without clouds, have fun with him, I had two, one just dead the other day his name was gabby we had him for 16 years, now Bella, the blue fancy is lonely, I’m not sure if I’ll get another one, Ill have to wait and see how she does.

  67. Peggy Parenteau says:

I’m going to go a different direction—-AUTO (OTTO)—named after all your road trips to us lucky people. He’s a beauty.

    oxoxo

  68. Adrienne says:

I think you should name him Elvis because he has such beautiful blue in his colors that it reminds me of Hawaii. When I think of Hawaii, I think of Elvis and those gorgeous, yummy blue hawaiian drinks! He’s gonna be the “King” of your stamp room – I just know it :)

  69. Pat Barger says:

I think that you should name him “Zindy”………obviously close to Zindorf! I think it just has some pizazz to it! He reminds me of the canaries that my grandma had when I was growing up. My favorite was named Johnny!

  70. Mary-Jane Downey says:

How about Tweet? He’s such a pretty fellow!

  71. Teri says:

How is Aqua B? Instead of a super hero sidekick – a stamper hero sidekick. :)

  72. Jo Ann says:

Congrats on your new addition. He looks like a Bazzill to me. I’m sure whatever you choose will be awesome!

  73. Candy M says:

Oh my – all of my suggestions are taken already – I was going with Bray or Brayer. Hmm…okay. How about Tempt? For Tempting Turquoise, of course. :)

  74. Hi Michelle,

How about “Indy”….short & sweet for such a fine boy. He will keep you company for hours on end…..Enjoy! :o )

  75. Helen Orbanus says:

My first thought was “Turqy” because he is such a beautiful color turquoise blue…then when I looked I saw someone had already come up with Turq.

My second thought was “Beach” because he reminded me of a crystal clear ocean and immediately I thought of laying on a beach looking at the ocean. As a nickname you could call him beachy.

Anyway, hope you enjoy your new stamping friend!!!!

  76. Connie A says:

I like Baja after Baja Breeze. Or Cutie Patooty

  77. Connie S. says:

He looks like a Charlie to me. hehehe I know I know its a commom name but still looks like a charlie.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  78. Dawn says:

How about just blue bird of happiness!!!

  79. Marcia says:

    How about Bluish or Bluey???

sound nice and it’s kind of cute!

    Hugs

    Marcia

  80. patski says:

I think he should be called Stamper to go along with what you do and will be doing.

  81. Marilyn says:

Wow, a pretty bird & lots of good names to choose from. My pick would be Turk…. short for turquoise.

  82. Alison says:

What about Blueberry, Indigo……or Bandit – he has a little mask and Im sure when he is out he will be trying to steal stamping supplies (at least those that he can physically drag off).

  83. Sandra B says:

I think he looks like a cute little Dorfie

  84. My suggestions for crafty names would be: Grommet (that’s masculine…) or Cloisonné (sounds like a little French bird of love – LOL!). My other favorite is Twitter – since it’s all the rage on the internet now. However, if you just want to call him a “name” rather than something papercraft or website related, I’ve always liked the names Dakota and Lucky. Best wishes and congratulations on your newest addition to the family! :)

    Dorothy

  85. Terry says:

    Burdy….
My Mom named her Parakeet Burdy – the Kids loved it.

  86. Nancy Freeman says:

He looks l ike a Percy to me! Not a stamping name — but that’s the first name that popped into my head. He’s gorgeous!

  87. Sharon W says:

Name it “Passion”. Since he is in your scrap room and that is your passion.

  88. Kathy R says:

    BOSS — as in emBOSSing.

  89. Holly says:

Well this little guy looks like a parakeet I got when I was ten and wanted a dog. My parents didn’t want me to have a dog and said I could have a bird instead. I named him Louie. I really like the first suggestion of Bisbee though!

  90. Linda says:

Obviously, his/her color jumps right out off the page…The shade of blue reminds me of the Carribean…which leads to Buffet and Marley Music…which makes me think “Marley” would be an awesome name! Parrothead might not work, huh!? LOL Of course an Aqua Cosmo if one of my favorite drinks, so “Cosmo” might work too! HA

  91. Maranda says:

I have a parrot thats name is noogie. There can always be another noogie in the world, I think that the world maybe big enough

  92. I think he’s a pretty beautiful boy, blue bird!
Bird To Fame. Ohio Bird. Brayer Bird. Kicking Bird. Swirly Birly Bird. Neon Birdie. Pretty Bird. Pretty Boy Blue Bird. Bird Bird. Pretty Blue Boy Bird. Old Sultry Picasso Blue Bird. I know…..He’s going to sing like no other bird watching all that brayering.

Pascal The Great ….assistant to the geat Zindorf. Call him Pascal for short.

  93. Laura Diekevers says:

How about Putter? What a cutie

  94. JoAnne says:

    moonbeam!

I have always waned to name a bird that!

    he is a beautiful bird….

    hugs
    JoAnne

  95. Janice says:

Love that bird ! All of the suggested names sound really good…..the name
    I chose is Teebray……

    Janice

  96. I think it should be Petrie. (Peetry) The flyer in “Land Before Time” (an animated dinosaur movie series) was named Petrie and he was the cutest character!! We had a cockatiel named Petrie and it was just the perfect name!!

  97. Dianne K says:

He is soooo cute! He looks like a “Cuddles” to me. I have a female Cockatiel named Sunny and she is great company in my stamping room. Enjoy your little bird.

  98. Christie says:

lol @ myself! I just saw the image of the bird, and my immediate thought was “D%mn!, that woman is the most awesome stamper in the world! What a card!”

I guess my caffeine hasn’t kicked in yet.

  99. Kim S says:

    Hi Michelle,

Brayer was the first thought that was associated with you and stampin. And several have mentioned it. So for a name that hasn’t been mentioned -

My daughter had a female the same color, her name was Betina. I loved to listen to her sing. When I thought of parakeet, turquoise and singing, the first thing that came to mind was the Caribbean and Jimmy ‘Buffett’. I would name him ‘Buffett’ Blue. The second thing I thought of was Margaritas and how ‘Yummy’ it would be to win ‘name that bird’! Good Luck and enjoy your new member of the family!!

  100. sandyh50 says:

I like “Pretty Bird” because that is something he is suppose to learn to say. We said that a million times to our parakeet! So you might as well say something he can learn. And this is really a “Pretty Bird”

  101. Elaine says:

I like “Turk” because he’s kind of turquoise in color; and I like “Zeek” and “Percy” just because…. ;-)

  102. kathy says:

I agree that Jiggy would be a great name but I’d also like to suggest “Baby Blue” or “Blue Boy”……he’s a baby, a boy and he’s blue, so Voila! He’s also gorgeous; hope you enjoy him for many years!

  103. Sue B. says:

My very first look at this beautiful bird…and “Sky” was my first thought for a name. He looks as beautiful as the sky looks today in Cincinnati, OH. Good luck!

  104. Sophie says:

Well automatically I thought “Brayer” and saw others had suggested it. I think its a cool name, once I re-said it a few times it seems neat.

  105. Sherry says:

Oh, I love your new little friend. When I was a little girl my grandmother had a parakeet of the same color. His name was Petey and we taught him to say “Petey is a pretty boy”. (Funny aside story — my grandmother loved his coloring so much that she got a turquoise refrigerator — this back in the 50′s!!)

Hope you and your pretty boy enjoy many happy hours!
    hugs,
    Sherry

  106. Chris Kieffer says:

Hi Michelle! I’d call him Crafty Boy/or Girl…lol….I also thought about Inspiration, but I couldn’t think of a cute way to shorten the name! He is going to fill your craft room with “Beautiful” notes of Inspiration! I have an Umbrella Cockatoo, and she gives me the most joy!! Enjoy him!! So cute!
    Chris Kieffer

  107. Faith says:

Glad I don’t have to select a name. There are a LOT of great ones already!! My suggestion is Keet or Pete the Keet (could be PK for short). Will be interesting to see what you select!!

    Faith in Florida
    eppf2@aol.com

  108. hi michelle,

my suggestion for a name would be “Pisco’.

he would be your inspiration while working on your beautiful cards.

    tricia from chillicothe

  109. Cathy Mathis says:

    Hi Michelle,

When my kids were younger we had a parakeet just like this one, his name was Sinbad because there was a cartoon on at the time about Sinbad the sailor. I know he had a parrot but….a parakeet is as big a bird as I wanted. thanks for the chance to win these two stamp set.

    Cathy

  110. Donette Barry says:

I thought I’d go with another of your favorite’s…Primsacolor markers…He looks just llike PM39 = True Blue…or True for short. Thanks :)

  111. I think you should name him Trouble. :o )

    Take care and STAY POSITIVE!
    XXOO from Naperville

  112. i thought maybe i should explain the name “Pisco;
    from Quechua; pisqu, little bird,
is a south american liquor distilled from grapes.
    thank you
    tricia from chillicothe.

  113. sandra says:

I needed a Michelle fix today – thank you!
I am no good at naming things – I first thought of Sparky – but then thought you need something stamping related ….. Bray! short for brayer – your trademark?
    Hey – I like it!
    Thanks for all the fun!
    Sandra

  114. Karen R says:

What a beautiful little bird! I’d call him Sunshine………Sunny for short, because he’s cheerful and bright, he just brings a smile to my face. Good luck with him!

  115. Donna Billingsley says:

    Michelle,
Since you do so much with your BRAYER…how about “SPEEDBALL?”

    DonnaB

  116. Dawn RW says:

He’s a pretty bird and the color of the sea, so how about Prince Caspian…for the Caspian Sea….but call him “Casper”. This name could double for “ghostly” type events that occur in your home…..like when a TV is on mysteriously with no one in the room watching it. You can say “It must have been a ghost….” and since you would have a “Casper” in the house, he would have to take responsibility for it, thereby relieving everyone else from blame. He could become your designated fall-guy. And since your kids are grown you need a young man in the house to blame things on, otherwise people might be looking at you !!!! LOL.

  117. Lin P. says:

We have had several birds and our parakeets could all say “Pretty Bird” so that is the name I would suggest, and of course he is a “Pretty Bird”.

  118. Norma Kratz says:

    Hi Michelle,
I can’t believe it, I have a parakeet the same color that we found out in the yard two years ago and we named it “PRETTY BOY” and he loves that name. So I would suggest “PRETTY BOY” for your bird and you can see him in February. How lucky was our bird to have a happy home.
    Good Luck
    Norma

  119. karen adams says:

I think you should name the bird Beauty because it is so pretty. Karen

  120. Amy says:

What a lovely bird….My first thought was BAJA…..I think that he looks exactly like the color Baja Breeze. But someone already suggested that.

So how about “Breeze”? Or maybe “Curaçao”? Or “Lagoon”?

I think you have an awesome list of potential names. Whatever you decide, just enjoy him.

Thanks for the beautiful cards. You are AWESOME!!!

    ~Amy

  121. StampinCathy says:

    This is one beautiful bird!
Some of my names are (trying to relate to stamping):

    Chipper for your beautiful cards
Gizmo for the supplies you can’t remember the name
    MOJO

  122. How a bout… Mr. Scallops for all the scallops on his wings. If it’s girl, then Ms. Scallops.

  123. cards4u says:

How about Tempting T or T Bird? Thanks for the chance to play! Enjoy!!

  124. Kathy Eddy says:

I think he is a very pretty bird to start with, and I think he is very lucky to reside in your stamp room, so it reminds me of a song from a long time ago, I’m the Lucky Pierre; so I thinkPierre would suit him well. When my oldest was a baby, we had two of them and they were Pete and Pierre. We let them fly around the house and Pierre always landed on the front of angela’s walker and would let her touch him and he would ride with her. Pete would peck us if we tried to touch him at all! Kathy Eddy

  125. Kathy Eddy says:

I think he is a very pretty bird to start with, and I think he is very lucky to reside in your stamp room, so it reminds me of a song from a long time ago, I’m the Lucky Pierre; so I think “Pierre” would suit him well. When my oldest was a baby, we had two of them and they were Pete and Pierre. We let them fly around the house and Pierre always landed on the front of angela’s walker and would let her touch him and he would ride with her. Pete would peck us if we tried to touch him at all! 126. Geri A. Dalke says:

what a beauty! I like Stampin. Not very original…but that would be his name if he were mine.

  127. Sue says:

OH! he is so pretty. I know you are going to love his company every day. You may have to clip his wings to keep him home. How about “Samson” Hope you like it. But what ever you choose, it’s going to be perfect for him.

  128. Mel says:

My name suggestion is Brayer. Isn’t that what you’re best known for – your expertise with the brayer!

  129. Beverly Bishop says:

How fun! I haven’t read the other suggestions and hope I’m not duplicating. How about TeeTee
    (Tempting Turquoise).

  130. Sandy K says:

Wow, what a beautiful Parakeet you have! He is gorgeous!!! You will want to name him something that he can learn to say easily. They say it is best to make it one or two syllables. We’ve had three parakeets. Their names were PT, BJ and Pretty Boy. Even Pretty Boy with 3 syllables was easy for the bird to say. We always entered the room with Hello PT or Hello BJ and they learned their name and would say it often.

How about TeKe. I don’t know why this came to me. But I think it would be easy for him to learn. He really is a Pretty Boy!

  131. Sandy says:

Corky just because our bird was corky when we were little. He would walk around our bowls and eat our cereal.

  132. Linda says:

What a pretty bird!!! You could call him TURK for turquoise or DEMO for demonstrator or DITTO for being second in your room while you work or just plain PETE for if you would get a second bird you could call it REPEAT. I’m being funny but when I was small my parents bought my sister and I peeps for Easter and yes we did call them Pete and Repeat (one was a Rooster and the other a Hen, which we did not know till they grew up). Linda

  133. Lavonne (tweetygirl) says:

    hi Michelle,
I think click would be a good name for all the pictures you take! I’m assuming the date was a typo since I can’t imagine you’d really keep this open for a whole year!! Thanks for the chance to win!

  134. Darlene says:

The first thing which came to my mind was:” Zindy”. I know it’s not really stamp related but then again maybe it is very much stamp related since that is your passion and so a take off from your name would be appropriate. Or maybe: “Mitch” would work – is that the masculine form of your first name?

  135. Liz says:

How about BluBelle? Thanks for the fun opportunity to win the prize!! Liz

  136. Marcia says:

Beamer . . . I don’t know how you are going to choose, but I like Beamer!

  137. Beth Ann says:

Hi Michelle! What a beautiful new friend you have! He (or she???) reminds me very much of my Piko, back from when I got married 20 years ago. :-)

Ok…when I first saw the bird, I thought he (or she) should have a name out of the new Stampin’ Up! catalog.

“Bermuda Bay” seems too big of a name for him, but maybe “Bermie” for short.

I also thought “Sunny” would be nice, because of the “Sunny Day” simply scrappin set.

“Kaleidoscope” (Designer Series Paper) is also too long of a name for such a little bird, but perhaps shortened to “Leido” (pronounced Lie-Doe).

Although it is no where near the color of the bird, “Razzle” is also a fun name.

“Flutter” is a fun idea, too, from the Decor Elements page.

“Sizzlet” sounds like a birdy’s name, too!

    Have fun deciding!

    Beth Ann

  138. katou says:

How about a french name as “BLEUET” for this cute little blue bird.
You are very lucky to have such a beautiul companion for your scraproom.
He looks very nice and this “turquoise blue” is “WAAOOUUUHHHH”!!
    Kisses.
    Cat.

  139. Alicia says:

Love the bird and what pretty colors! There are some great names on here but thought I would go ahead and throw my two in the hat. Trying to connect him to what you do, here’s my offers..lol

Traveler and….Sneaky Peek (or Sneaky Pete..lol) I notice you always give us a Sneak Peek of stuff so…just how my mind works…lol

  140. Linda Peterson says:

He looks like “Sammy” to me.
What a beautiful bird. We had one similar to yours, when I was young and it was a guaranteed male and then laid an egg.
    Linda Peterson

  141. Carin says:

So many names suggested… I like “Dauber”… it has a stamping theme plus it rolls off the tongue… you have to name a pet an easy to say name… besides I think he looks like he would like the name, Dauber… if he could speak he would tell you that!

  142. Pam Berrisford says:

My grandmother called her bird Pretty Boy. I would call the bird Pretty Boy if he was mine!

  143. Laurie in MN says:

    Keety, keety.

Hee, hee, had to throw that one in the hat.

Our family always had birds. Petie was the most used name. Clyde was our smartest bird who had a strong personnality. He was always very gently with little children and loved walking on their shoulders.

Have fun training your new parakeet. I think I could still recite the 45 record used for teaching the bird phrases, Hello, Hello baby. Hello……..

  144. Susan says:

    Hi Michelle,
Lots of good names out there already, I’ll try a few:
    Doobie
    Cheep
    Doodad
Thanks for the opportunity to win the cool stamp sets.

  145. Cindy H. says:

He’s just so pretty! I had one that looked just like him when I was very young and we called him Tweety. Now that I’m all grown up, lol, I think “Happy” would be the name I would pick. Happy is what I am when I’m stamping, too:) When you are trying to teach him to say his name, repeat “Happy, Happy, Happy” and see if you can be *blue* – don’t think so!

  146. Hi Michelle, I love your new bird. He reminds me of the one my Mom had.
The name I’ve chosen is “Zeezee” for his beautiful Azure color.
Hope I get chosen. I think it would suit him very well.
    Nicole Taylor/ButterflyEars

  147. Barb in Edmonton says:

How about Twitter? Kinda a combination between modern technology and the sounds a bird makes!

    Enjoy your beautiful boy!

  148. Jill says:

What an absolutely gorgeous bird. I have a almost four year old keet that looks very similar to your little boy and I named him “Perry”, short for Periwinkle. Perry has been a wonderful name for mine as he can say his name so clearly. Good luck and I know you will have so much fun with your newaddition to your stamp room. Parakeets are wonderful, fun birds.

  149. Michelle says:

My daughter thinks you should name him “Sky” because he is blue like the sky.

  150. Betty McCommon says:

I have a bunch of ideas, I think my favorite would be Garon, it’s French for guardian…he’ll guard you while you stamp. Trouble is a good name…if he lives up to it! I also love names like Zeus or Merlin but without ‘knowing’ him it’s hard.

  151. linda says:

hi,hi…poor little bird…….I think he’s at least going to get 4 names!! Cause it must be hard to choose!! ;o)
    I’ll go for Patty! Why???………just because I like it…. :o )

  152. Cheryl L. says:

How about YumYum or HoneyBun or LoveBug? After looking at him, these names seemed appropriate.

  153. Randa says:

What a gorgeous bird. Congratulations on your new pet. I think you should call him Inky Beak or Mr. Inky Beak. Anyone who’s attended your classes knows we all leave with very inky fingers, right! How long before your new friend dips his beak in an ink pad, ya think?

  154. My son suggested Peeky; did I mention he is only six? LOL! I think Amour (French for love) or Bonbon (French for candy) are good too. Nope, I’m not French I just love the idea of using those words for names. Good luck on your quest!

  155. Valerie says:

My Stampin UP! ink pads “flip” open…I would name him Flip.

  156. Jan Hoyt says:

omigosh, you have already rec’d PAGES of comments with great suggestions! It was fun reading through some of the ideas. My first thought (before reading the comments) was that I would go with Turq (for obvious reasons!) but mostly I had to say that he looks so much like a bird we had when I was a kid. Of course, when you let a 5 yr old name a blue parqueet you don’t get anything too original…which explains why our bird was named “Blue boy”! lol!

Anyway, my ideas have already been named but I wanted you to know not to include me in the drawing anyway, I have several duplicates of both of those sets but I think it’s a great idea to do a drawing. And when I first saw the photo, before I read down to see that you just got a bird, I was wracking my brain trying to figure out HOW you stamped and brayered such a great image of a bird and made it so life like! lol! Jan Hoyt http://www.inkerzaway.blogspot.com

  157. Amy P. says:

O.K. I don’t know how you keep up with all of these names, but I really thought about it for awile……………”Bodhi”, pronounced bodie. This the character of Patrick Swayze in the movie “Point Break”, he plays a master surf dude. He is also a bank robber with Zen, heh heh. I bet your birdie will be a little thief, you just wait. When I saw the color of your budgie, I kept thinking of the beautiful blue color of the sea. So there you have it. Good luck. You’ll enjoy your baby, I have one too, only he is yellow!

    Bodhi the Budgie!

  158. Sherry D says:

Hi Michelle, Wow… you’ve gotten some really great names to choose from! .. and here’s one more to mull over…

… he’s such a lovely color blue that it makes me think of the sky on a beautiful clear day … so I thought how about Skyler!

    Hope you like it!

  159. Dorene Donaldson says:

How about In-Spire for all the inspiration this cute bird will stir up.
Or Picasso, for all the art work done by your side.

  160. I just love birds and he is a beauty! I was first struck by what a beautiful shade of blue that he is on his breast, of course, but even the feathers on his “cheeks” and the area above his beak. So my suggestion is Azure which means deep blue, like the color of a clear sky and I think it sounds kind of exotic too. I hope you enjoy your little friend!

  161. Sharon in NE says:

    Art. (For obvious reasons)

  162. debbieanng says:

Oh what a pretty bird. I suggest either ” Mr. Peeps” or ” StampBuddy”

  163. Here’s another suggestion, this one from my husband. He suggested Crafty Bud. The bud has a double meaning both because he is your buddy and because he is a budgie. If my DH wins, I’m pretty sure he will let me use the stamps! lol

  164. Gail M. says:

What a beautiful bird! He will add lots of fabulous chirping to your stamp room, which should keep you happily stamping for hours on end. I think his joyful songs will add plenty of “Magic” inspiration for your great cards, so I think that would be a good name for him. And yes, all of my friends definitely talk in Stampin’ Up colors. When we do this in public, it’s hysterical how many ladies will stop and join in, knowing exactly what we are talking about!

  165. Marlene Carcary says:

What a pretty bird! My suggestion is Auzie – A take on Azure and also Australia since these birds are native to that country! I know that whatever you call him/her you will get lots of enjoyment from having this pretty bird next to you!

  166. Terri Fleming says:

Okay, mine must not have been too original. It was Bray. I see others have that idea. I liked the first name of Bisbee too though.

He sure is pretty. I hope he’ll sing pretty for you and keep you company.

Maybe Taz for Tasmanian Devil when you see him fling seeds and “help” you with your craft supplies! He’s gonna love bristles on the brushes, twine and bling! Hey, maybe Bristle.

  167. Sylvia Johnson says:

He is darling. How about Mr. Snigglefritz. He will be guarding your stamping room so he needs a name of distinction and honor.

  168. krista says:

Well usually I can come up with unique names, all came to me today is *Pretty Gray* or *Company*..

  169. kfisher says:

    How about Periwinkle

  170. rose williams says:

how about “sir oscar” or just oscar. i dont know why – but he looks like an oscar. he’s adorable and i love his colors. My fiancee’s cousin raises parakeets – and i always had them growing up! makes me want to go adopt a parakeet from him!!

good luck and happy times with Oscar!

    Rose

  173. I like the name “Jiggy.” But I had also thought about “Boss.” I was thinking about how you like to ‘emboss’. He is a very cute bird and such beautiful colors. I’m sure you will enjoy him and I look forward to seeing more of him in pictures.

    Chris

  174. Brenda says:

How about Wheeler after the stampin wheels

  175. stampersuzz says:

How about Brazee? I was thinking of zindorf and brayer… :)

  176. Terri Jackson says:

    He looks like a “Perky”!

  177. cher says:

Hi..so many good choices! I vote for Peeps! as he will be peeking at you all the time, and your Peeps (us readers) cant wait to see what you create…and he can easily learn his name! Tweets just seems so blah to me…but Peeps is fun! ty for the chance! Cher

  178. Auld Robin Grey (for the colors on his feathers). Great looking bird! I hope you get lots of inspiration from him!

    Juliana

  179. ritajuan says:

How about KIWI or Zinder. What a pretty bird. We had one when I was a child and he learned to talk.

  180. Lee Ann says:

I think Braybird (because you’re so talented with teh brayer and because it’s a combination of Blue and Gray). Thanks for the chance to win – your bird is beautiful.

  181. cecile says:

mr Breeze (sort mixture of bray-er and Z-indorf) Besides he looks like a fresh breese of the ocean.
Or Whimsy from whimsycal; I love that word

  182. adrienne says:

    bonjour Mme Zindorf!
quel bel oiseau! Que dites-vous du nom Jazz?

  183. Carol H says:

How about Sir–short for serenity–That’s what I feel when I see him–calm, peaceful and serene–he is a beautiful bird.

  184. Wendy L says:

I don’t know if someone else suggested this already…but how about “Candy” for the great Blog Candy you are offering and for such a sweet little bird!

  185. JANE B says:

Such a pretty blue. I think Azure is a great name for a blue bird. I also thought of Indigo, if you like the darker blue.

  186. jo meyer says:

His name HAS to be “Tweet” — because he will talk to everyone — may even use Twitter to Tweet us.

  187. Kathy says:

Beautiful bird. He will keep you company as you stamp, emboss, brayer, make cards, etc. He looks quite regal. How about Aquarius?

  188. Nadia says:

I used to have a parakeet growing up. I am Italian and my dad named him Bacci (pronounced Bachi in English- same as the chocolates I guess). It means ‘kisses’.
    He’s a cutie!
    Nadia ;-)

  189. Mer says:

    PETIE………. the parakeet

  190. Martina says:

    My idea:
    Lucky.blue

    cause he is blue ;-)
ans i think he`s lucky in your house.

  191. Stephanie C. says:

I was going to say Baja, after Stampin’ Up’s baja breeze, but I see someone already suggested that! How about Bayou? Isn’t there (or was there) a Stampin Up color called blue bayou?

  192. Lauri Pittman says:

I’d call him Parry; short for Parakeet, but any of the above mentioned names would be cute. He has beautiful coloring! Turquoise is one of my favorite colors.

  193. Carol Dee says:

My Grandma had bird just like him. His name was Pretty Boy, he liked his bath time/shower in the sink. So many names already ! I think I like Skyler or Bleiu. (I named a gray one I had Ashley)

  194. Doris says:

Since he is Tempting in color, how ’bout “Flirt”…

  195. Susan McRae says:

How about Pierre? Pierre the parakeet who can sing beautifully to you while you stamp!

  196. Lori S says:

    Brayert

  197. Mo says:

Your parakeet is beautiful and looks really sweet. I think you should call him Beau.
    Mo

  198. marcia m says:

What a gorgeous bird! I’d name him Bluephy (pronounced Blue – Fee). We had a similar looking bird with that name – the kids came up with it and it stuck! We also called him “bird”! Enjoy him!
    Marcia M.

  199. leslie nyholm says:

“Cash”……in hopes, as your new partner, he brings you good fortunes!

  200. Verda says:

Beautiful card. As for a name for your little guy how about “Whispers” for the whisper white in his coloring . If someone already suggested this, sorry, but I haven’t read all the posts yet.

  201. Michelle says:

I really think he looks like Percie..

Call me strange I Know but thats what jumps out at me :)

  202. Bobbie C says:

How about Blue Brad? I like using blue brads on my creations. Thanks for the opportunity to win 2 stamp sets.

  203. Gabi says:

Oh,I´m not the first with “Tweedy” ….
What´s about “Inky”? That´s the same melodie in this name.
Maybe he will be able to speak his name….sometimes. :)

    Greetings from Austria
    Gabi

  204. Sandy says:

My first thought for a name was Cyan (Cy for short name)

  205. amber white says:

I don’t need the stamp sets since I already have them, but I’ll throw some names in the ring….

    Inky
    Scrapper
Blueberry (my son has a blue bear named this and it’s really grown on me)
Boisenberry (I may not have spelled it right, but it’s like a blueberry and then you could call him “Boy” too)

  206. Judy Wheeler says:

How about Zindy….using part of your last name….or Zindy Bird?

  207. Joanne says:

Buddy is what I would call him.

    Minna xxx
    Finland

  209. Elaine says:

He’s so cute! A name that comes to mind is Peety (like Tweety but with a P.)

  210. Davi says:

Michelle, Your bird is so cute. We have a several birds inluding a blue parakeet. They are great company and always intertaining. Since he will be your companion I think you should call him shadow. My husband says the name should be zebra. :) have a fun picking a name. davi

  211. Donna says:

How about Sparkles? His eyes are sparkling in the photo and the turquoise would sure sparkle if he was flying. He is a beautiful bird! Donna

  212. Ibis says:

The name I was going to suggest was already listed by Elaine. I was going to suggest Muse. Every artist has a muse that inpsires them to make masterpieces. I agree that its a great name for the fird that will be in your stamp room.

Other suggestions would be naming him Masterpiece or maybe even Ibis. Its not just my name, but its also the name of a bird coincidently :)

If he were in my stamp room I would have to call him Ahh-choo since I am alergic to birds and they make me sneeze, lol!

  213. Merry S. says:

Hi Michelle! Ok, for some reason, the minute I looked at your bird, I thought “Rex”. I think it totally fits him! He’s so handsome :-)

  214. Glenda says:

I had a bird like this. He wandered into our backyard and was already finger tame. I called him Buddie. Later I got a lighter blue one and called him Eccles. It was actually a mistake as they are often not so friendly when they have a companion. (They were both males.) Of course here in Australia we call then Budgies. I usually like to name my pets with whatever seems right at the time. We had a very long lived cat whose name changed several times over the years. The cat didn’t care!

  215. Janet Sisk says:

What a beautiful bird! I love your description of him using SU colors. LOL I purposely did NOT look at anyone else’s name suggestions. I thought of two right away when I saw him. The first one has nothing to do with anything other than he looked like that name to me – Gus. Go figure. The other name has to do with his role in helping you create and market Stampin’ Up. I thought that since you are a Stampin’ Up demonstrator he needed a name that has to do with that. He could be called “STU” for STampin’ Up. LOL You could call him Stuey for a cute nickname. I even asked my DD what she thought his name should be and she said “Blue”. Not very original, but true. Thanks for the chance to add my input and possible win some great stamps.

  216. Dawn says:

I love to know the meaning of names and colors. The meaning of pure blue is: It indicates inspiration, sincererity and spirituality. It’s also known for it’s calming properties. The ancient Egyptians used lapis luzuli to represent heaven. So since he’s blue maybe his name could be Luzuli or luzu for short.

  217. Sandy J. says:

At first glance I wanted to name him “Muffin” as that was the name of our son’s when he was about six years old….he’s now 37! How about, “Paddy” for all the stamp pads you use?

Or, Stampson? (more appropriate than Samson! ha.)

He’s sure a beauty and what fun he’ll be for you….great company! (I have finches in my office and their continuous happy sounds brighten my day!)

    Sandy

  218. Janice W. says:

Hi Michelle, When I first looked at your new family member I thought he looked the sky. So I’m voting for Sky for your new baby.

  219. megan says:

Well I could n’t think of a name so I ask my nearly 5yr old and he reckons it should be” Gordie ” I have got a feeling he has picked this name as he is blue and Gordon the train (from thomas tank engine) is blue.
best of luck there is many names out there to choose from.

  220. Barb Dare says:

As these birds are native Australian birds orginally, why not Aussie or Bluey both typical Australian terms.

(From Down Under – Victoria Australia)

  221. Becky says:

He looks like a Pedro to me. Pedro the Parakeet. He’s soooo beautiful.

  222. I’ve never had to choose a name for a bird, but I’ll give it a try; Zee-Bee for “Zindorf Bird. He’ll be good company, I’m sure.

  223. Linda U says:

I like “blue fly free”… for his color, your blog name and when you let him out of the cage to fly around for excercise.

  224. yasmin says:

Your parkeet is so beautiful and how wonderful to have him in your craft room; sure to inspire you. I thought of the beauty of creation, and then thought of ‘Zen’ for his name. Looked up to see if i could find a boy’s / male name that would make me think of its beauty / creation and i found these :
‘Zeno’ (pronounced Ze-noh), Zinon, Zino and Zenon. They are all of Greek origin, and the meaning is “gift of Zeus” – “gift of God”.

  225. Alyce says:

I thought of some that have been mentioned already so I went back to the drawing board. How about “Freedom Freddie”.
He reminds me so much of a Parakeet I had when I was a little girl. We named him Tweety and after Tweety we had a Charlie. Charlie could say “gotta go to work now, Charlie” and “Green Bay Packers” among a few other things.

  226. wrenetta says:

He is a cutey! I had a parrot once and I like the name Pierre. Have fun deciding.

  227. Lori says:

    Cobalt
    Cosmic
    Tiki
    Malibu
    Stormy
    Smurf
    Sky
    Starburst
    Raindrop
    Ice
    Saphire
    Rain
    Frost

I was thinking blues and tropical. :o ) He is precious, can’t wait to hear his name. :o )

  228. Deb Grady says:

How about Bubo? I’m a fan of that old Clash of the Titans movie…lol

  229. Deb Grady says:

or you can just call him Brayer.

  230. Sara says:

My nephew’s first word was bird and he got a parakeet of this colour for his first birthday named Pandora – even tho the bird was male like yours. I would go with Pandora or Pablo. For some reason Pandora has always sounded like a rainbow name to me – and that bird looks very bright and beautiful.

  231. Olena says:

ROMA, Kesha or GOSHA. Good Luck! ~Olena~

  232. Kathy Jackson says:

I like the name “Bella Blue”. It is a very beautiful bird!

  233. What a lovely bird. How about Blue Boy? I know, not very original.

  234. Patty says:

“Totweet” (or not to totweet, that is the question) a little drama. He looks like he might like a little drama. Pretty bird. Thanks for the chance and have a good week.

  235. Brenda Tapp says:

Oh, What a beautiful parakeet – I am such a parakeet fan. My mom and my aunt had parkeets that talked, but my two parakeets never did. My mom’s bird could not say my name (Brenda), so called me ‘Brisbee’. Intersting, your first commentor’s comment.

Sooooo, I jave always wanted a cat, but my DH does NOT like cats…so my sis suggested I name my parakeet KittyBird. Which I did. So, now I have a ‘kitty’ – : ) I can just hear my youngest g’daughter telling folks that ‘Grammy has a Kitty that FLIES!’ lol! Fun contest – thanx!

  236. Maxine says:

We in New Zealand also call them budgies – I would suggest Solomon as he looks such a wise wee bird!! :-)

  237. Beautiful colored bird! I didn’t read all the comments, so maybe this was already taken… but I would name the little guy Indigo Blue. thanks for the chance to win. Joyce Arbogast

  238. Kim says:

    I’m thinking Brayer!

What a pretty guy he is.

  239. I asked my kids what they thought – one suggested Blue Cloud, the other Tweety or Skylar (Dad said Sky Blue). I cheated and went to thesaurus.com and entered turquoise. I liked a couple of words that came up in the search results – Beryl, Cobalt and Cerulean. It’ll be fun to see what you choose!

  240. Marie Taylor says:

Hi Michelle, well the first two I picked out were already taken and I didn’t go through the entire list yet…..but how about Nesty?

  241. Maria says:

    He’s a cutie!!!
    How about naming him Norbert?

  242. Karen A. says:

How lovely to have such a delightful crafting companion. My name suggestion is CC.
    Karen

  243. sharon bond says:

I love all your tutorials and have saved every single one of them since you started, all 230 or so. I think you should name your bird ANGEL. He looks like he’ll be a real ANGEL for you.Or maybe Mr. Blue, or Stamper Blue, Tweety, or Baby Blue. I’m sure out of the hundreds of names suggested you’ll find just the right one to fit him. Well back to my copying yor latest , “SURFER ” , I love it (actually all of them).

Thank-You for letting us all help you choose a perfect name for him.

  244. Yvette says:

This is such a beautiful bird so my suggestion is: Birdy or Lovie

  245. Leslie says:

How about Fancy Pants? My children had one like it when they were younger. I have a parrotlet now that is smaller that our parakeet, but thinks he is an amazon parrot. He is 4 inches at his tallest and won’t grow any larger. His name is Stormy.

  246. Desiree says:

Blue Stamper or Stampie the Parakeet

I think he would love one of these names…

  247. Debbi says:

What a beautiful bird. How about Beauty?

Thank you for the chance to win.

    Debbi

  248. teresa paradise says:

    Teresa

  249. You use SU a lot…….you could say Sue instead of SU….. you know…. a boy named Sue! ;-) I originally though of Buddy since he will be your stamp buddy and it is so easy to say and is close to Budgie.

  250. Deonna Bemish says:

Hi Michelle, My daughter thought that you should name him “bossy” after an embosser or “Pudge” just because she liked the name.

  251. Allison Cope says:

    Awww…. he’s so cute! How about…
    - Sky
    - Cobalt
    - Powder
    - Aqua
As you can see…. I went with a blue theme!

  252. I’m not sure why but I always thought parakeets should be named Petey. Just sounds good to me.

Hi Michelle, since he/she will be in the room wiith you while you work I would introduce him/her as my “stamping buddy”

  255. Karen I says:

How about Banjo or Kazooie. The names are from an old video game about a bear (Banjo) who had a bird (Kazooie) in his backpack. When my boys were younger that’s what they named our cockatiels. There are a lot of great names out there, it’s going to be hard to pick one.

    Enjoy your new addition.

  256. Roanne says:

    I’d name him Art.

  257. Kecia says:

Come on, now. That bird is a Buckeye. So how about Buckeye? Or Brutus? Or Woody? Or Archie? Or Eddie? Or Tressel? You have to give him a Buckeye name to cancel out his blue.

  258. Sue says:

WOW…look at all those suggestions…I couldn’t go through them all but I wanted to tell you the name we had for our budgie when we were kids. Rudy….he chatted up a storm…I decided he needed to know his phone number so we thought him that…and he would do this…
    802…543…543…543…543…543…802802802802..2..2..2..2..2..2..2..2..2…543…
    543…543..Rudy Rudy Rudy..Gimme a Kiss Gimme a Kiss..kiss kiss kiss kiss..Where’s jean…jean jean jean…
you get the idea…he was just the best bird.
The first thing he learned was Hello Rudy. My mum would work around the kitchen repeating it like a zombie all day long…she didn’t even know she was doing it. It took a few weeks for him to start to repeat it. Once he had that the rest came much faster LOL
Enjoy the little guy ..and as someone mentioned..short names ending in ..y or ..ie are good

  259. olga says:

    Michelle-

I am from Russia and in that country most popular name for such a birdy is “Gosha”.
There are lots of Gosha’s there… We can play a little and make it Goga, Gugu, Bubu, or Gugush. It has to be something bright and short.
We could go soft and short directions: “kotik”. “kutik”or “sunik”.
I hope you like it. I think you should go not by the look, but by the personality here…

    many hugs, Olga

  260. sandyh says:

    my suggestion is baja budgie.
    sandyh
    sandyha@comcast.net

  261. Virginia says:

I had a friend when I was a child that named her parakeet “Echo”. I always thought that was a neat name for a bird that will repeat all the words you teach him.

  262. Cindy S says:

I’d suggest Twitter or Blog, just because we all enjoy the time we spend with you, courtesy of the world wide web. However, I must admit that Bray or Zindy would be perfect names for “your” bird. It will be fun to find out the name that tickles you! Cheers, Cindy

  263. Sharon W. says:

I think a good name for your pretty bird would be Rusher, after all it was your husband who invited us to name the bird. lol. Then again I like Mr.Z the first inital of both of your names and last. Thanks for the chance to win and enjoy your pretty birdie whatever his name ends up being.

  264. Linda Grady says:

    Chris

I don’t know if this was given yet, but I like
    ……….Blue Boy…………….and
……….Stampanion (that was first that came to mind, cuz he will be your companion in your stamping room…….but Blue Boy rolls off the tongue easier, and I like

He is beautiful, you’ll enjoy him a lot I’m sure!

  273. Rebekka says:

Name him “Tweety” .. or “Yum-Yum”.. I love these two names, dont you….:)
    Rebekka

  274. Ilona says:

I have a little budgie too – his cage is nearly by my right side and he loves to play with the things on my desktop.
The name from my little friend is “Nicky” – he can speak his name and another nice words and phrases.

As I saw your charming bird I am directly think that he looks like a “CHARLY” or “CHARLIE”

  275. Donna Lee Williams says:

May I suggest Versa Mark – and call him Mark or Markie?

When I was a little girl my grandparents had a parakeet and his name was Petey.

If he were mine, he would be my Buddy.

  276. Elizabeth says:

  279. Barb Presley says:

He just sort of struck me as “Shay”
(when I see your work, I’m so struck by the SHading and use of a brAYer….)

  280. Helen says:

Very pretty bird – he reminds me of a parakeet, or should I say the MANY parakeets my Grandfather had when I was growing up. Grandpa named all his bird Paddy. It just rolls off the tongue and…it has stamping connections – ink pads!

  281. Sue : ) says:

I will hug him and squeeze him and love him and pet him, and I will call him George.

  282. Sandy Lingle says:

I vote to name him “Big Boss”

  283. Manetta says:

How about the name Encre! That means Ink in French!

  284. Linda I. says:

He reminds me of a very sweet parakeet I once had that spoke Greek. His name was Deno and it fit him perfectly.

  285. Dianna says:

    How about:

Sir Stamps A Lot…..kind of catchy I think.

  286. rachel says:

wow, I only got about half way through. I think you should name him Marcos after our favorite paper store :)

  287. Lori A-O says:

How about “Bleau Boy” as in the color…..not Blue……he just looks like a Bleau Boy!! What a cutie and have lots of fun with him, our 3 exotic’s we have, talk up a storm, well at least two of them do…….but yours is a “pretty boy” as well…..oh hey, another good name for him, LOL!

  288. Beki says:

How about naming him Brayer! :-)

  289. Shirley says:

How about “Buddy” – as that is what he will be to you!

  290. Andrea says:

What about Sam? I dunno, Sam seems like a reasonable name

  291. Cheryl says:

Congratulations on your new feathered friend! I have a Quaker parrot and named him “Webster” because they are supposed to be great talkers and I hoped the name would inspire him. It did, he talks more than I do! Your little guy is male and they can talk so maybe the name will inspire him also so I’m suggesting “Webster.” We call him Web and Webby too.
Don’t give him a mirror until you’ve tamed him or he’ll love the mirror and ignore you!

  292. My 8 yr old son said “He is black and turqoise so name him Blurq” I thought that was very cute. OR he could be named Azul, which is Spanish for blue. I really really like the name Turq also, which was suggested by someone already. I already have those sets, so let someone else win. We just wanted to add our two cents! Have a wonderful week!

  293. Johanna Goldenberg says:

How about AZUL? (Blue, in Spanish) because his colouring sure is striking!

  294. Johanna Goldenberg says:

Oops – I must have been typing when Tammy, just above me suggested AZUL, because I didn’t see it when I started to type – I’ll think of another….

  295. Belinda says:

this little guy originates from Australia, He is an outback boy, that is a show off, and his lovely colour is a definite winner with the girls. So hows “Jack” if your a fan of the movie, or Ozzie, if your not

  296. Dana Bincer says:

Goodness…so many names. What came to my mind was:
Aqua Marine – I’d most likely call him Aqua for short.

    or maybe:
    Azure
According to Wikipidia: Azure is a blue-cyan color on the HSV color wheel (Hue, Saturation, Value) at 210 degrees. Azure is the hue that is halfway between blue and cyan

  297. Jenny says:

Getting a parakeet seems like a great idea! I have two zebra finches, but they are not good companion birds, just good observation birds. We have had parakeets before, and I miss their beautiful music. Hmmm… Here are a few more ideas for names: Mr. T, Ozzie, Captain…

  298. Belinda says:

Another shot from down under – Bruce, or Brucie boy. I have a brother named Bruce, and our Budgies always seemed to say “Bruce” or “Brucie Boy” with great Fluency. It’s nice if they can say their own name.

  299. SueB says:

Well, he looks like Petey, our family parakeet when I was a kid, so that’s my choice!

  300. BevieBee says:

PTE (Pete-ie) will give you a little tweetie.

  301. Nancy says:

I think his name should be Artie because of the beautiful art you create and inspire the rest of us to create. I think Indigo is cute and you could call him Indie. Blink or blinkie would be a combo of blue and ink.
    Enjoy you new friend!!!

  302. Alison says:

WOW! That is a lot of names to have to choose from.
    I like Pete . . .
    Pete the Parakeet!

    What beautiful colours!
    A

  303. Nancy B. says:

I like the name “Picasso” since his turquoise blue is so vivid. The second reason is – in my book you are also a Picasso because of your creative use of coloras and techniques.

Enjoy your new companion. I would love to have a bird but the bird might not like my 3 cats.

  304. Violet says:

I was going to suggest Brayer too but several others beat me to it. I know you mostly do cards but what about “Scrapper” in honour of all the scrapbookers out there!!! Beautiful bird no matter what name you pick.

  305. Hilda says:

There sure have been some great suggestions. The first thing that came to mind when I saw your bird’s photo was Tooki Tooki (pronounced two-key).

  306. Sandy Poelencheck says:

How about “Blue Bayou”- as he sits by you and is such lovely shades of blue.

  307. Lynne says:

    Hi Michelle

I just couldn’t believe it when I saw the pic! Many years ago I had a beautiful blue parakeet; they could be twins. My suggestion, call him “Pretty” and just watch how quickly he will say his own name :)
    Thanks again for your kindness.

    Lynne

  308. christine says:

Oh! So cute. He looks like my mums bird. As he will be sitting in your craft room with you he will become your “BUDDY” he would learn to say this real fast

  309. Marilyn says:

What a pretty bird! I would name him Summertime Blue, and probably call him Blue for short. I hope he learns to talk. You will have to keep us up dated on the words he learns to say. The first thing I would teach him is “Pretty Card” because your cards are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

    Marilyn

  310. Bev says:

Love your Bird. i have cockatiels myself, i Think Lovey would be a good name Because your sure to love him

  311. Evelyn----Ks.stamper says:

Michelle your new friend is so handsome I think you should name him Rhett and if that does not grab you how about PeeWee he is a cute little peewee. Good luck girl you are going to be busy, ha ha.
    Evelynn

  312. Greta says:

All I can think is either ink pad, rubber stamp or brayer blue.

  313. Ann says:

Greetings Michelle from the SW suburbs of Chicago,

The names I was coming up with seemed to already be mentioned: Petey, Picasso, Pretty Bird (I know that sounds feminine, but it fits). LOL! I didn’t make it quite through all of the posts so if I’ve repeated any below I wouldn’t be surprised. :)

    How about….
~ Mr. Big Shot (after the Big Shot)
    ~ Spritzie (Color Spritzer Tool)
    ~ Daubey (Sponge Daubers)
~ Brayer Boy (Brayer since you are so creative with the brayer tool)
~ Encore (Encore Pads or the definition: an audience’s demand for a repeat
performance which is what you do by being so creative with your projects &
    sharing them with us)
~ Bermuda (in honor of the new “In Color” Bermuda Bay)
~ Prettie Boy (Pretties Kit, feminine sounding again LOL!)

I know this name has nothing to do with stamping, but I love the name “Beau” because it is my sweet French Bulldog/Boston Terrier dogs name. Instead of Bo, we used the french spelling, since he is my sweetheart & because he’s part Frenchie. :)

You could also think of a name for him that has to do with one of your favorite stamp sets, colors or accessories I’m sure.

Thanks for the fun & know that your bird will bring you great joy as you create!

Stampin’ Smiles from Ear to Ear,
    Ann :)

  314. Jennifer Gray - Australia says:

What a gorgeous bird. You are fabulous with your creating and every time I receive an email from you I get a feeling of MYSTIQUE before I open your emails. So I looked at your bird and thought yes he could be called MYSTIQUE.
    Many blessings
    JENNIFER

  315. Marg says:

We had a bird that looked exactly like yours. We named him Hobo as we found him wandering on our deck. When I saw your new friend I immediately thought of ‘Dude’ (as being a great looking guy) but them changed my mind to ‘Dudley’. Enjoy him!

  316. Deanna says:

I can see he is a male bird…and they do talk…we had one and his name was Pretty Bird…and chose that name, because it was easy for him to learn.
You just repeat over and over and they pick it up. He could also whistle the Popeye cartoon tune…
So I suggest a simple Pretty Bird or Pretty Boy. He can say that easily.
Thanks for the opportunity to win the wonderful prizes.
    Hugs, Dee

  317. Donna Stanton says:

Stu Bray-Zindorf, (STampin Up BRAYer-ZINDORF) no seriously,

    Blue Boy!!

  320. toni says:

    Hi Michelle…

glad to see that you are up and blogging again…beautiful parakeet.

    here is my suggestion Azure

Azure B. Zindorff to be exact.

hope you have an awesome day

    toni

  321. laura says:

love the little feathered friends and have had a few budgies myself and now have a cockatiel.

    how about blue bell?
    or
    sunshine

  322. Ingrid says:

It´s a nice bird – he called HANSI

  323. Lisa Mason says:

I think he should be called Arthur, shortened to Art when you know him better :) , Arty when he’s been a good boy, or Arthur Aloysius Zindorf when he’s been a naughty boy and pecked at something he shouldn’t!!!!

Fab idea, and such a gorgeous bird!!! Do you have a stamp that looks like him? He could have his own line of cards, LOL.

    Lisa :)

  324. Ann Ullery says:

    Hi Michelle,

My first thought for a name for this handsome young parakeet is “Ringo” because of the way his feathers look like rings of light layered down the back of his body.

With so many wonderful names to choose from, he could have a different name every day of the week ! LOL !

    Enjoy your parakeet – he’s a beauty !!

    Ann Ullery
    Holiday, FL

  325. Tina Van Eick says:

What about Azure…he’s beautiful. Make sure you give him lots of good veggies. Don’t use any non-stick cookwear near him (fumes are fatal if heated) … so beware of any of your craft tools that may have this on it. Avacados and chocolate are also poisonous. But they love kale, unbuttered plain popcorn, brocoli, corn, apples, etc. Good luck with him. Oh yeah, make sure he has lots of millet spray and cuttlebones!

  326. Joanne says:

Gorgeous new bird! Pets are great! I have a 16 year old cat, and 3 year old dogs who are sisters. We call them Poodermans (doberman/standard poodle). They are all such a hoot! Anyway, when I saw your new baby, the first names that came to my mind were Picasso or Monet.

  327. Marlene Iacuzzi says:

Since you are truly an artist, I think he should reflect true art–How about Blue Boy.

I keep hoping that someday you will come to Syracuse, NY (summer) or Sebring, FL. (winter) and give one of your classes. You are very unique.

  328. Karin says:

I have to go with the name Perkey. Every bird my grandparents had when I was growing up was name Perkey. Unlike you, they were not so creative…lol!

  329. Kerry H says:

In honor of today’s technology, how about “Twitter”??

  330. Mary Jane T says:

    How’s “M Z” sound, after your name….

  331. Dorrie says:

I am going with Happy. May you both be very happy in your stamping room.

  332. Kitty says:

I had one just like him, when I was little. I named him Piki, let’s see, we’d have to write it as peakea to pronounce it right in English with short wovels. It means Spotty, but also something very small.

  333. johanna says:

that is a nice bird, and beautifull.
What about “Random” because all blogg-candys are drawing by random…!!??
    johanna

  334. bonnie says:

Bernard, Bernie for short. No particular reason he just looks like a formal name he;s so handsome.

  335. michelle says:

The name Turk popped into my head when I saw him.
Reminds me of one of my Nana’s birds from when I was very young…
thanks for the chance to win some candy this morning!

  336. Barb says:

Sooo cute. How about “breezy” as in Baha Breeze. You could call him bree for short. Love your ideas. Thank You.

  337. jengd says:

    First… gads! I love your work! :)
Second… if you’re anything like me, your pets get counted in the list of your children- always your babies. Based on that, I’d name him Brayby or Braybe.

  338. Pamela Quade says:

    How about “Parachute” the Parakeet!!
    Pam

  339. Marcia says:

    Hi Michelle,
How about Ziggy Zindorf? Beautiful bird, by the way…

  340. pas says:

What a cute addition to your household. How about Rembrant or Quizno (looks very quizzical to me). Thanks for the chance.

  341. Cyn Flores says:

Congrat’s to your new additional to your family. He looks so cute. For a name, how about “ba ba boo”. I’m sure he will bring much joy to you and your family

  342. Judy Covey says:

How about Bayou as in the color Blue Bayou? Second idea would be Artie, because you are such an artist. I also like the name Jewel or Jewel or the Nile, but that is probably too feminine for a male bird, so my three suggestions are:

    1. Bayou
    2. Artie
    3. Jewel or Jewel of the Nile

  343. Tanya A. says:

When I saw your lil’ guy “AINSLEY” came to my mind…I don’t know why??? So that is my suggestion=) He’s so beautiful. Good luck picking out a name!

  346. Lisa says:

    Sea Breeze

  347. Lucy says:

    Hi Michell
So many names already. I think Azurro would be a nice name for this lovely bird.
Thanks for sharing your art with us. I would love to join in for the blog candy but most important is that this birdy gets his name!

  348. He’s beautiful. I thought “Maxx” or “DeVinchi” would be appropriate since it’s a He!

  349. valerie says:

How about Reggie. Reggie P. Keet at your service . Good Luck and lots of enjoyment with your new addition

  350. Wendy says:

    Hi Michell
Turquoise would be the name i would choose. He is a gorgeous male. They are native to Australia and are called Budgeriger. The native ones are predominatly green. We have two @ the moment. They are called Elizabeth and Darcy yep from pride and prejudice. My girls just love that series.

  351. Melanie says:

He is beautiful! What a lucky bird to be able to watch you create. I like Woody, it matches Stampin’ Up!s wood blocked stamps.

  352. He is such a cutie. I have 2 suggestions: Mr. Aqua or Mr. Teal.
    Hugs
    Heather

  353. Carol B says:

What a cutie! I like the stripes his feathers make around his head. “Tiger” came to mind immediately. I like that it is not a bird-like name. “Turk”, short for Turquoise is another.

  354. Carol B says:

Me again. I’ve also been partial to the names, “Mojo” and “Gizmo”.

  355. rosaria says:

i think “mr brayer” would be a good name :) he is very cute!!!!

  356. Suzeestamper says:

I’ve also read where birds respond to names that end in “ie” or “y”. When I was a young child back during the Flinstone age, I had a parakeet that looked like yours. Ours was named BOB E. BIRD but I would like to also suggest BARN E. BIRD and BRAY E. BIRD.

No matter who’s name you choose, you’re going to have so much fun teaching him Stampin’ talk.

  357. Marilyn says:

Okay… looks like ‘Brayer’ or ‘Artie’ to me… Seems to be the consensus.
    I am leaning towards ARTIE.
Good strong name with an independent personality to match.
At leasy he will have a name and it will not be “hey you…” {hee-hee} Marilyn in Texas

  358. Dianne Henry says:

I love you work as all ways and when I saw him the only name I could come up with was The Walker!!! I dont know why but here goes.

  359. Marilyn says:

Oh wait… He could be ‘Mr. Peeps’ (lol) as in … they call me Mr. Pips… oh, my I made a funny and am laughing so hard… {hee-ho-hee-ho} Marilyn in Texas

Sorry about the second post… I was thinking out loud again…

  360. Donna Amos says:

We had a parakeet just like yours and he was precious. His name was Peeper. That would be a good name for yours! Happy choosing!

    Donna

  361. Nadine says:

Gorgeous! I was going to suggest DaVinci, but it has already been submitted. How about Mystique?

  362. Diane Quinlan says:

Well, Michelle…you are going to have quite a job picking from all these names!! I had several thoughts….I tried to see if there was a well known Australian male singer…since parakeets come from Australia….or a famous male…but since your husband is Russ, I thought Russell Crowe wouldn’t work….then, I thought about your blogs and what you do…and I came up with Journey. Every day, you send a wonderful example of your work and we get to see what is going on with you…taking us on an “artistic journey”……
    Hugs, Diane

  363. Tammy O'Neal says:

Nice birdie! My cockatiel, Tweety, says hellooooo! My entry is BB which stands for Blue Bird or Baby Bird or Big Boy or Beautiful Bird or….anything that starts with B and B. Hello Bee Bee!

  364. How about:

    Neemo
    Widget
    or
    Milo

Love your work so much – can’t wait to see your blog each day!

  365. Denise in PA says:

My suggestion is simple, “Brayer”. It is what I think of when I think of Michelle Zindorf and her “style”. When he learns to talk and I’ve had one that did, I hope “Brayer” is his first word because it is also his name.

  366. Aussie Sam says:

Nice bird, it’s actually a budgie, native to Australia. Why not call him Bud the budgie or Bazza the budgie.
    Samantha

  367. Leslie Springer says:

This is one beautiful bird! The name I like would be calypso. Hope this helps you out.

  368. I did not read all the names submitted before this post but what about “Peanut”.
    Eveline.

  369. Janice Starita says:

I love Confetti. Defined as multiple colors. He is one gorgeous birdy.

  370. Noreen M. says:

What a beautiful birdie, when I was growing up we had a bird that looked alot like yours. He would sing when we played the radio and any kind of music and the faster the music the more he would swing back and forth with his head like he was dancing! How about Skittles or Swinger. Noreen

  371. Teresa says:

In Australia, we call our red heads ‘Bluey’. Why not call your little mate ‘Red”? He’s gorgeous BTW – he’ll make great company.

  372. He reminds me of a parakeet I had as a child. I used to look at the color wheel in a dictionary and pointed at it and called it Amalo…………..so my parents named the bird Amalo………..which I feel was the beauty of all the spectrum of color on the wheel.

  373. Wendy says:

    Blue Boy
    Cyan
    Purty Birdie
    Here Kitty Kitty
    Killer
    Beware of Dog

I could go on and on!

  374. Andrea Brashier says:

I haven’t read through any of the suggestions given, so I hope I am not repeating any. Here are the few I thought of:

    Blue Boy
Zin (after your last name, but with the thought that ZEN brings peace)
Brayer or Bray (for short) (since this is definitely how you are known!)

Can’t wait to see what you chose!

  375. Patty says:

Wallie for the hotel in New York City-Waldorf Astoria connected to your last name Zindorf. I know it makes no sense now that I wrote it but I do like the name Wallie

  376. MELISSA MCLEAN says:

He looks like a Tomson. Very cute bird

  377. Ellie M. says:

    How about “Mr. Doodles”

  378. Karli says:

I think he should be called Mr. Sneaky-Peeks because he’ll get to see your awesome creations before anyone else does!

  379. Elizabeth says:

    Hi,
After viewing everyone’s great suggestions, I’ve almost given up on my names for your new little guy. What the heck, I’ll give it a shot. I love to think up names despite how crazy some might sound. I couldn’t narrow it down to just one, so I’ve listed several:
    Falcon Eddie (my particular favorite)
    xanadu
    Stampy LaRue
    Elvis
    Joe or Joey
    Zeke
    T. T. Grayson (for Tempting Turquoise)
    Congo
    Genghis Khan
    Perquito (Spanish for Parakeet)
Rigar (short for budgerigar: the best known of all parakeets)
    Zindorf (come on, it’s a great name…)

  380. Dorrie says:

It may be too late, but I thought of something I liked better – Hughey. It reminds me of ‘You and Me’, which is what I think of when I think of you and your bird stamping together.

  381. Bertha W says:

    Michelle,
My parakeet as a child looked exactly like yours. I called him “Blue Boy”

  382. Rebecca says:

All I am going to say is: Don’t name him “Sweetie”. My friend named his “Sweetie” and that bird was anything but!

My dad’s theory on calling out to your pets is that you can call ‘em anything you want, as long as you say it in a nice tone of voice. His favorite was to call out (in a sweet cajoling tone) “hey, poo-poo head”.

That still makes me laugh :D

  383. Linda Gundrum says:

I think you should name your bird Blinky.

  384. Carole M. says:

Chester is my name choice for your striking male budgie. I’m sure it’ll be rolling off his tongue in no time; Hello Chester!

  385. Allyson says:

He is a great looking Australia ‘Budgie’ or Budgerigar. In Australia we have a strange habit of calling red heads ‘blue’, and so for this Australian blue Budgie, a good name may be ‘Red’.

  386. Lara's Laugh Lines says:

    Your workshop is your den.
You are famous for your brayer technique.
Handsome blue boy should be called “Brayden”
