Just playing with texture and punches. . . . .

Really quick post today.    I’m packing for my trip down South this weekend, doing laundry, grocery shopping, meeting to refinance the house, stopping at the DMV, you get the picture, lol.   I’m busy!

I’m busy, but that didn’t stop my creative juices last night in my sleep.  I drempt about this card, so I had to get it on paper/cardstock this morning, lol.   I did not feel it warranted a tutorial since it is mostly straight stamping and punches.  I will however talk you through it.

FYI,  There is just a few short days in which to pick up the Build a Blossom stamp set (item #121923)  and Blossoms Petals punch (121808) out of the Stampin’ Up Occasions Mini Catalog.   You can shop my Stampin’ Up Web Site 24/7 and the products will be delivered straight to your door step from Stampin’ Up!   Here is the link:    http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/michellezindorf/

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Build a Blossom
Paper: Stampin’ Up! River Rock, Whisper White, Soft Suede & Early Espresso
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo & Blushing Bride
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Flourish Texture Plate, Big Shot, Blossoms Petal Punch, Gold Brads, Photo Corner Punch, Pretty in Pink ribbon

I needed to create my main image panel background.  I started by cutting a 4″ x 5″ River Rock panel and then smeared my Soft Suede ink pad on my Flouish Texture plate and ran the card stock through the Big Shot.

This is what you get.  Cool huh?

I created the flowers by stamping the petals on Whisper White card stock using Blushing Bride ink.  Punched them using the petal punch.  Distressed the edges with Melon Mambo.  Punched the leaves out of Soft Suede card stock using the Blossoms Petal punch also.  Distressed them using Early Espresso ink.  Cut the stems free hand out of Soft Suede card stock.   Added Early Espresso and Soft Suede card stock panels.  Added gold brads and Pretty in Pink ribbon.

There you have it.

The finished card measures 5″ x 6.5″.

May your weekend be filled with joy and love.

Until my next post. . . . . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Extreme Surfing – Tutorial #419

It has been raining here in Ohio for soooooo long.  For days and days and days it has been raining.   I wish I were some where warm and beach like today.  I will be heading to a warmer climate on Friday.  I am off to Florida to teach, wooohooo!!!  Sunshine, here I come.

So with that in mind I created today’s tutorial, check it out.

Let’s get started. . . . .  .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Extreme Surfboard
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Old Olive Designer Paper, Whisper White & Basic Black card stock
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Pacific Point, Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black Ribbon, White Gel Pen, Basic Black marker, Jumbo Brads, Crop-o-dile
Techniques: Direct to Paper

The Stampin’ Up USA Idea book and Catalog is here.   For your copy, please send a check for $9.95 to Michelle Zindorf, P.O. Box 116, West Alexandria, OH 45381 or send it via paypal to mzindorf@aim.com USA only.     My current customers will receive a new Occasions Mini Catalog automatically from me.   Not a current customer and want a free copy of the new Occasions Mini Catalog ?  E-mail your mailing address to mzindorf@aim.com and I will get one in the mail to you.  )  Are you getting inspiration from this blog?   One way you can help support it is to order your Stampin’ Up products through me.   Click HERE to place an order.    Want to become a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator , receive a 20% discount on product and earn instant income on orders?  Consider being part of my Stampin’ Up Team and start your own business or become a Hobby Demo just for the discount.  Click HERE for more information.

I got out my boxes of ink spots.   These little pads are great for direct to paper techniques since they have a pad that sits up above the ink pad base.   Just looking at all the colors makes me excited, lol.

Since I wanted to cover the entire 4″ x 4.5″ piece of card stock, I chose to start out with a full sized Bashful Blue ink pad and used the edge of the pad to smear the ink on.

Now this techinque is not for the faint of heart.  You have to commit  to putting a lot of ink on the paper.    Making tiny strokes does not work here.  You need to make big strokes.

Using a Bashful Blue ink spot smeared in a wave shape.

Smeared in some Pacific Point ink.

Smeared in some Certainly Celery ink.

Added a bit of Whisper White using the very corner of the ink pad.

Added Not Quite Navy ink.

Stamped the Surfer using Pacific Point Ink.

Colored in the surfer with a Basic Black marker.

Added White Gel pen dots to the water behind the surfer and also to the top of the wave.

Assembled my card adding Stampin’ Up! Old Olive Designer paper ripped on the left hand side, 2 basic Black panels, Basic Black Ribbon and Jumbo Brads.

Here is my finished creating measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be just beachy.  :)

Until my next post. . . .  ..  . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Give Thanks…

Project Give Thanks | April 23, 2011 at 5:57 am | Categories: Uncategorized | URL: http://wp.me/p1pUJX-5z

… when you have the opportunity to touch someone’s heart and you do it!

Today I stopped by the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center to restock our box of cards.  Boy!  Everyone gets it now and they simply love and appreciate the beautiful cards!  There were only 3 cards left!

I also stopped by the nurse advocate’s office to see how thing’s went with the box I gave her.  She, Nanna Bo, told me that women in the Newly Diagnosed and Young Newly Diagnosed support groups enjoyed the cards very much.  Cards have also been shared with the Lymphedema support group.

All of you, who have donated cards to Project Give Thanks, have touched many, many hearts in so many ways.   At this very moment one of your cards, filled with Thanks, may be on it’s way to a sister who has cared for children so a survivor could recover from surgery or chemo treatments.  Or, one of your cards could be saying “Thanks a Latte” to a dear friend who filled a freezer with meals.  Someone may be receiving word that their loved one has just been diagnosed with cancer and the beauty of the card has made that message a little less upsetting.

My Stamp-artist friends, you were given the opportunity to touch someone’s heart and you did it!

Thank You,

Sonja

Much Love to all of you, XOXOXO

Until my next post, continue to be your beautiful selves.

Terracotta Wall – Tutorial #416

I decided I needed an embossing powder fix this morning.  I got out my clear embossing powder and created this very feminine card using the Stampin’ Up! Hostess set Cute By the Inch and Elements of Style stamp set.

Ever since I first layed eyes on the block stamp in  the Cute by the Ink set I knew I wanted to create a little wall using it.

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and take a break for  a few moments to follow along.

Let’s get started. . . . . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Cute by the Inch and Elements of Style
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Baja Breeze, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Basic Black and Whisper White
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Baja Breeze, Basic Black and Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Rhinestone Brads, White Gel Pen, Cajun Craze and Basic Black Markers, Brayer, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Versamark pad, Clear embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Photo Corner Punch, Post it notes
Techniques: Emboss Resist and Brayering

Stamp the block from the Stampin’ Up Set Cute by the Inch 3 times on a 3″ square piece of Whisper White  Card stock using Basic Black Craft ink and then heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Masked around the blocks using 3 post it notes.

Smeared ink on the unmasked area using the edge of a Cajun Craze ink pad.

Smeared the edge of a Versamark pad over the unmasked area and heat embossed the unmasked area using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  Note:  Leave post it notes on during the heat embossing stage.

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at an angle on the top right hand corner.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink at the top right hand corner, not covering the Baja Breeze ink entirely.

Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig tool for placement, stamped flourish from the Stampin’ Up set Elements of Style using Old Olive ink.

Added a Basic Black marker outline under some of the flourish to create a shadow.  Also colored in the dots in the design using the same Basic Black marker.

Colored the flowers in using a Cajun Craze marker.

Added a few highlights to the flourish.

Added a Baja Breeze panel under the main image panel and a 5.25″ square panel under the Baja Breeze panel.  Stamped the flourish four times using Craft Whisper White ink and then dried the ink using a heat gun.

Added a 5.5″ square Baja Breeze panel, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Rhinestone brads and small Basic Black photo corners.

Here is the finished project measuring 5.5″ square.

May you experience nothing but peace and harmony today.

Until my next post. . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle
