Holiday Mini Catalog starts tomorrow,  September 1, 2011.  Want a free copy?  E-mail me at mzindorf@aim.com (include your mailing address in your e-mail, please) and I will get one out to you.

Let’s start with the supplies.

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Scaredy Cat
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Old Olive, Basic Black and Rich Razzelberry
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponge, Rich Razzelberry Ribbon and a 2.5″ circle punch

Instructions:

Punch a 2.5″ circle from Whisper White card stock and stamp the cat from the Stampin’ Up Scaredy Cat set on it using Basic Black ink on the right hand side of the circle.   Adhere the circle to a 3″ x 4.5″ piece of Basic Black card stock so the moon hangs over the left side of the Basic Black card stock panel.  Cut the moon excess off.

Rip the top edge off of a 3″ x 2″ piece of Old Olive card stock.   Adhere it to the Basic Black panel so the Old Olive card stock meets the cats feet.  Cut off any excess Old Olive card stock.  Sponge Basic Black ink at the bottom of the Old Olive.   Add 2 Rich Razzelberry panels and 1 more Basic Black panel.  Add Rich Razzelberry Ribbon.

Enjoy!

May your day be extra special.

Until my next post. .. .  . .

Hugs!

Brayered Wistera Wonder ink at the bottom and top of the card stock.

Stamped the Stampin’ Up! Pocket Silhouette Plant stamp using Basic Black ink.

Masked the bottom of the card stock using a post it note.

Ripped the edge off of another post it note and masked the sky with it.

Sponged Basic Black ink between the two masks to create the islands in the distances.

Ripped another post it note and used it as a mask in order to create the rocks in the foreground.

Sponged Basic Black ink in the unmasked area at the bottom of the card stock.

Let’s Go Camping – Tutorial #447

If you have an outdoors man or woman for that matter on your card list this card may be for you.
Today’s card is using a large main image panel (4.5″ x 6″) so it doesn’t leave much room for bling.   But with a great scene you don’t want bling, right?  I know some of you are gasping right now, lol.  But really, you don’t want to distract your viewer’s attention with a bunch of bling when you have created a panel this large.

I currently have dough rising.   I’m in the process of making homemade Broccoli, cheese and ham calzones so I must get moving.  With that being said, let’s get started on today’s tutorial. . . .  . . .
Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Loads of Fun, Lovely as A Tree, Season of Friendship and Word Play
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Old Olive and Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Cajun Craze
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, heat gun, clear embossing powder, brayer, Versamark pad and marker, Markers (Old Olive, So Saffron, Sahara Sand, Bashful Blue and Basic Black), 1 3/4″ circle and 1″ square punches, post it notes, gold brads, White gel pen
Techniques: Brayering, masking

Get your copy of the new 2011-2012 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog by sending $9.95 to me at P.O. box 116, West Alexandria, Ohio 45381 or via paypal to mzindorf@aim.com, shipping is free.   Want a free copy of the new Stampin’ Up! Started with a 4.5″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Loaded my Camper stamp with Versamark and then Basic Black ink before I stamped it.  Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the camper in using Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Basic Black and Sahara Sand markers.

Went over the bottom area of the Bashful Blue again using the Bashful Blue marker to create a sense of roundness to the camper.   Also colored over the slated bottom of the camper using the Sahara Sand marker again to create a darker tone of that color.

Colored over the entire camper using a Versamark marker and then heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  This was done to protect the image from future ink applications.

Added a 1 3/4″ circle punch Post it note and a post it note with a hill ripped in it.

Brayered Daffodil Delight ink at the bottom of the unmasked area.  Be sure to wipe any ink off of the embossed image using a paper towel any time you go over it with ink.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink at the bottom of the unmasked area, not covering the Daffodil Delight ink entirely.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Night of Navy ink at at the top of the card stock,  not covering the Not Quite Navy ink entirely.

Removed the sun mask and sponged Daffodil Delight ink in the center of it.

Stamped the Lovely As A Tree Pine using Basic Black ink.  Stamped the image 3 times.

Stamped the Season of Friendship tree using Basic Black ink.  Wiped the ink off of my embossed image.

Stamped the leaves using Old Olive ink.

Added Basic Black ink leaves.

Removed the hill mask and sponged Old Olive ink on it.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the base of the hill.

Added White Gel Pen highlights to the leaves, back of camper, windows and made little strokes with the pen to create grasses.

Toned down the highlighted leave by going over them with an Old Olive marker.

Stamped the Word Play Sentiment using Whisper White ink.

Added a few White Gel pen dots in the sky for stars.

Added an Old Olive Panel, 4 - 1″ Basic Black square punches on the corners of the Old Olive Panel.  Added a Basic Black panel and 4 gold brads to the corners of the main image panel.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May you breath fresh air today.

Until my next post.. . .  .

Hugs,

Michelle

Chilling – Tutorial #446

Hey There,

I’m back from beautiful Connecticut and had a wonderful time as usual teaching my brayer techniques to some truly fabulous students.   Here lately, I have been asking my advance brayer students to challenge me with a scene that they would like for me to do as a tutorial here on my blog.  Well, my Monroe, Connecticut students challenged me to create icicles and to use the penguin.   I think I covered both with this scene.  What do you think?

I like it!

Let’s get started on today’s tutorial. . . . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ UP! Zoo Review
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand card stocks and Vellum
Ink: Stampin’ UP! Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze, Basic Black, Not Quite Navy and Island Indigo
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Mini Brads, Snowflack and Decorative Punches, Paper Snips, Brayer, White Gel Pen, More Mustard and Basic Black Markers, Post it Notes
Techniques: Brayering, Masking

Ripped a hill in a post it note and used it to mask my snow area on a 3.5″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White.

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Island Indigo ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Baja Breeze ink entirely.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Island Indigo ink entirely.

Brayered Sahara Sand ink at the post it note edge.

Removed the mask and created another mask with 2 hills ripped in it.  Put it below the horizon line and sponged Baja Breeze ink at the post it note edge to create a lower hill.

Removed the mask and stamped the penguin using Basic Black ink.

Colored the penguin in with a white gel pen, Basic Black marker and More Mustard marker for his beak and feet.

took a 3.5″ square piece of vellum and cut icicle shapes in it using my paper snips.

Did the same thing with a 3.5″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Sponged a bit of Sahara Sand ink on the right sides of the icicles.

Layered the vellum and Whisper White icicles and adhered them to the top of the main image panel.

Punched a Decorate label punch out of Baja Breeze card stock and then cut it in half.

Punched a Snowflake out of Whisper White card stock and cut it in half.

Added 1 Not Quite Navy, 2 Baja Breeze and 1 Sahara Sand card stock panels, the punches and 4 mini brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

A Letter Of Thanks From Project Give Thanks

I wanted to share this with my readers and thank you personally for supporting Project Give Thanks by sending your hand stamp creations to this wonderful cause.  You all rock!

A letter of thanks from Sonja Knaisch.

Give Thanks for the three “R’s.”

Project Give Thanks | August 17, 2011 at 3:45 pm | Categories: Uncategorized | URL: http://wp.me/p1pUJX-bq

Give Thanks for the three “R’s.”  You know, rest, relaxation and r-wine.  No, really, it’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle I’m talkin’ ’bout.

This card was sent by Jenny Fulton who said “Please include these cards in Project Give Thanks.  They were all made by stampers who attended the 2010 SU convention.  (I just added the backs.)  I roomed with your sister at the convention – What fun!”

First, sorry Jenny, if Michelle snored.  You know, sometimes…  ;-)  Otherwise she is a hoot to room with and I do it as often as I can.  Secondly, you have discovered the seed that grew Project Give Thanks.  I’d seen Michelle’s wonderful card fronts she’d collected at conventions and other gatherings.  They mostly sat in a box after she’d studied and admired them.  We discussed how storing them was a waste of beautiful artistic talent and effort.  Then I went through Cancer treatments and noticed how many cards I sent.  Store bought cards didn’t feel special enough to send to people who saved my life!  After healing a bit, and getting my mind back, I put the box of card fronts together with the need that Cancer Survivors have for really special cards!  That’s when Project Give Thanks was born.  I started with a huge box of card fronts that Michelle donated.

Anyone who has a collection of cards fronts sitting in a box can do as Jenny did and put backs on them, pair with an envelope and send them in for Cancer Survivors to use!  It’s a fantastic way to REUSE a goldmine of creativity!  More reuse ideas… Often artists include a detached sheet in the card to be written on.  Some Survivors have noticed this and like how the the card can be reused.   Also, many artists reuse found items and paper scraps in their creations.  The “reusing” doesn’t end there.  I reuse or RECYCLE the boxes and packing that the cards are sent in.  The ziplock bags are pulling double duty everywhere in my house!   ”Bing” I’ve just thought of something… there is a new small shop that mails organic chocolates (how did I know this?) and they probably could use some free packaging…

So, there’s Reusing and Recycling going on with PGT, what about Reducing?  Well, think about all of the effort, time and travel (gas/carbon) we’re saving Cancer Survivors by delivering the cards they NEED right to them!  I always group my errands to prevent a special trip to Boulder so we’re not even generating extra fumes for delivery. Hot Damn!  Oh, I do get so excited about the environmental stuff.  It’s the social police in me ;-)

Oops, gone on too long.

Give thanks for the reuse of card fronts and the successful project they led us to.

Sending a renewable hug to each of you!

Sonja

Breaking the Bank – Tutorial #445

Hey there,

This card came to mind yesterday right as I was leaving the car dealership after having some work done on my van.  “Ouch” says my wallet.    Actually, this little scene came to my mind the minute I seen this cute little pig in the Stampin’ Up! catalog.

Any suggestion on a sentiment for this card?  I would love to hear them.

Also, is this really a sheep, not a pig, lol.  Well my apples on my last post were really pears, yikes!  Funny what a mind tells you, grin.  :)

Before I start the tutorial I want to announce a few Brayer and  Direct to Paper workshop locations I have added to my calendar.   Check it out by clicking on the location, I will be in Sparta, New Jersey,  Piedmont, Alabama and Longmont (Gunbarrel), Colorado!  Woohoo!  I hope you get the chance to attend and create with me.

Now on with the tutorial, I have packing yet to do before I leave for Monroe, CT in the morning!  Connecticut ready or not here I come with a brayer in my hand!

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Button Buddies, Totally Tool and Baroque Border unmounted wheel
Paper: Stampin’ UP! Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Lucky Limeade and Rich Razzelberry
Ink: Stampin’ UP! Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Early Espresso, Rich Razzelberry, Old Olive and Lucky Limeade
Accessories: Stampin’ Up markers (Rose Red, Basic Black, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand), Silver mini brads, Silver Metallic Gel Pen, Brayer, Sponges, paper snips

Stamped the hammer (ommitted the sentiment) using Basic Black in on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock.

On the same scrap of card stock, stamped the pig using Melon Mambo ink.

Cut the two images out using my super sharp Stampin’ Up! paper snips.  Love these scissors!

Colored the hammer in with Sahara Sand and Soft Suede markers.

Added a shadow to the bottom of the pig using a Rose Red marker.  Colored in his eyes and nose holes using a Basic Black marker.  Added a pink button for his snout.

Added a line on the top of his head as the bank slot and added Basic Black marker to the bottom of his feet.

Masked the bottom 1 1/2″ of a 3.5″ x 4.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock with a post it note.

Brayered Lucky Limeade ink on the unmasked area.

Stamped my unmounted Baroque Border wheel using Rich Razzelberry ink.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the unmasked area.

Removed the mask and turned it around so it is masking the top of the card stock.

Brayered Rich Razzelberry ink on the unmasked area.

Sponged Early Espresso ink at the top of the unmasked area.

Moved the post it note mask down a bit and sponged a shadow in for the pig.

Added 2 Melon Mambo and 1 Lucky Limeade panels, adhered the pig and hammer, colored the hammer head in using a Silver gel pen, added tiny brads to simulate coins.

Added a 5″ x 6.5″ Rich Razzelberry panel.

Here is the finished project measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your bank not be broken!

Until my next post. . .  . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle
