Chilling – Tutorial #446

Hey There,

I’m back from beautiful Connecticut and had a wonderful time as usual teaching my brayer techniques to some truly fabulous students.   Here lately, I have been asking my advance brayer students to challenge me with a scene that they would like for me to do as a tutorial here on my blog.  Well, my Monroe, Connecticut students challenged me to create icicles and to use the penguin.   I think I covered both with this scene.  What do you think?

I like it!

Let’s get started on today’s tutorial. . . . .

Ripped a hill in a post it note and used it to mask my snow area on a 3.5″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White.

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Island Indigo ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Baja Breeze ink entirely.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Island Indigo ink entirely.

Brayered Sahara Sand ink at the post it note edge.

Removed the mask and created another mask with 2 hills ripped in it.  Put it below the horizon line and sponged Baja Breeze ink at the post it note edge to create a lower hill.

Removed the mask and stamped the penguin using Basic Black ink.

Colored the penguin in with a white gel pen, Basic Black marker and More Mustard marker for his beak and feet.

took a 3.5″ square piece of vellum and cut icicle shapes in it using my paper snips.

Did the same thing with a 3.5″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Sponged a bit of Sahara Sand ink on the right sides of the icicles.

Layered the vellum and Whisper White icicles and adhered them to the top of the main image panel.

Punched a Decorate label punch out of Baja Breeze card stock and then cut it in half.

Punched a Snowflake out of Whisper White card stock and cut it in half.

Added 1 Not Quite Navy, 2 Baja Breeze and 1 Sahara Sand card stock panels, the punches and 4 mini brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with cool breezes.

Until my next post. . . . .  .

Hugs,
