Autumn Thoughts – Tutorial #464

Hey There,

Happy Halloween!   I hope you are enjoying your Autumn Season.

I’ve been hanging out cooking and filling my freezer with freezer meals.  I put over 50 meals in the freezer in the past few days.  It is now well stocked and all Russ and I have to do is pull something out and bake it or put it in the crock pot.  All the real work is done.  Feels good having so much done and saving money in the long run because we were able to buy in bulk, grin.

A little about today’s project.  The Stampin’ Up! Thoughts & Prayers Tree is so lovely.  Don’t you think it is a beautiful image?  LOL, of course I haven’t met a tree stamp that I didn’t like.  If you read this blog regularly, you know that already.

This tutorial is all about layering the moutains and highlights.  Hang out and check it out.

Brayered More Mustard ink on the 4″ x 4.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the More Mustard ink entirely.

Brayered Cherry Cobbler ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Cajun Craze ink entirely.

Stamped the Thoughts and Prayers Tree using Old Olive ink.

Ripped a post it note and used it to create my mountains furthest away in the scene.

Sponged Wisteria Wonder ink on to create the mountains.

Ripped a different pattern in the post it note and put it on to create the second layer of mountains.

Sponged Rich Razzel berry ink on for the second mountains and colored over the trunk of the tree with a Chocolate Chip marker.

Added a little bit of Cherry Cobbler marker to some of the leaves on the tree.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the bottom of the card stock and distressed the edges of the panel with Basic Black ink.

Added Whisper White ribbon.

Added Three panels, 2 Rich Razzel Berry and 1 More Mustard.  The measurements are in the photo.

Added a few White Gel pen highlights to some of the leaves and a highlight down the right side of the trunk.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with joy and laughter.

In The Tree Tops – Tutorial #462

Ahhhh Fall, sig. . . . . . . .

Gotta love it!   Hues of Earthy Tones, Browns, Gold, Orange, Red, Yellows and Greens.  Makes me want to stay in the kitchen preparing and putting food away for the up coming winter.   Or better yet, take a long walk in the woods.  Blues skies above, crunchy leaves under foot.  Yep, I love, love Fall and I love Ohio this time of year.   You should see all of our road side stands just bursting at the seams with pumpkins and gourds.  Also, I cannot drive down a road here in my neck of the woods without seeing a sign for a corn maze or hayride.   Fall is here in full force.    I guess you know where the inspiration for this emboss resist card came from.   Grab a cup of apple cider and check out the tutorial below.  Better yet, how about grabbing those stamps and give it a whirl?

Below is a photo of the view in front of my house taken just a few short minutes ago.  If you follow this blog you have seen this scene many times.  My banner at the top of this blog is a pastel painting I did a few years back of the same view.  I love the way the sun shines on the back of the barn in the morning turning the gray barn into a lovely shade of peach.  🙂  It’s funny the things the heart finds warming.  I seem to be babbling this morning, lol.  So unlike me, not!

Colored over the entire leaves to blend the colors using a So Saffron marker.  No need to worry about staying in the lines since we will be cutting these images out.  🙂

Colored in the veins of the leaves using a More Mustard marker.

Cut the 3 leaves out using Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips.  Love, love these scissors!

Added 2 Soft Suede panels (5″ x 6.5″ and 4″ x 4.75″) and 1 Basic Black panel (4.75″ x 6.25″)  Also added Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon.

Someone turned 50!

Pardon my absence, I have been busy torturing my husband, Russ, lol.

If you know Russ, he is very laid back and doesn’t like a lot of attention.  Well, he got it anyway for his 50th birthday.   Happy 50th Russ!!!

We celebrated over the weekend with Family and friends and delighted in reminding Russ that he is over the hill now.  We also tortured him with cake and homemade ice cream, poor guy.

But the best part was making him wear this 50 hat and necklace, lol.

Russ, darling it was all in good fun.  You get better with age, just like fine wine.

Sorry folks, I need to suck up.  It will be my turn next year, YIKES!

I’ll be back with a bit of stamping shortly.

Hugs to you all!

Michelle

My Abby Girl

With many tears I had to say goodbye to my sweet, sweet,  Girl Abby today as she passed on.   She will be greatly missed in this family!

TREASURED FRIEND

I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And shared her silent thoughts with me.

She’ll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favourite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to his golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.
