Here Fishy Fishy – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #573

Oh Happy Day!  It’s Saturday and I am not cleaning house, woohoo!  Instead I got to stamp for a while and bring you another tutorial.

By the way, I want to thank those of you that have commented on my projects.  It means the world to me to hear what you think of them.   It also, let’s me know what you enjoy seeing and if I’m on the right track here.  So thank you, thank you, thank you.

I also want to thank those of you that are my Stampin’ Up! customers, you are the reason I put so much effort into my projects and make as many tutorials as I possibly can.   I cannot thank you, my valued customers enough.  I would not be able to have the projects I do on my blog if it were not for your support.   You are the best!  With all my heart, THANK YOU!

Now, about today’s project.  I created this card using Stampin’ Up! set “By the Tide”.  My favorite set from the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog.    I’m a sucker for beautiful fine line nature stamps.  Just cannot get enough of them.

I used the emboss resist technique with gives you a more painting like effect than if you where to color and cut out the images and adhere them on your card stock.  The fish are part of the scene not on top of the scene.  Clear as mud?  LOL

I hope you hang out a few moments and check out my tutorial below and better yet, give it a try.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies: Stampin’ Up! By the Tide (item# 129120)

Stamps:  Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Pool Party, Island Indigo and Basic Black

Ink: Stampin’ Up! River Rock, Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, Pool Party, Island Indigo and Midnight Muse

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! sponges, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Versamark Pad, Brayer, Clear Circle Die, Circle Scallop Die, Linen Thread, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Banner Punch, Versamarker, Certainly Celery, Lucky Limeade, More Mustard, So Saffron and Pool Party Markers, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Big Shot Machine and Post it notes.

Started by Die cutting the Scallop Circle Die from Basic Black card stock and the Clear Circle Die from Whisper White card stock using the Big Shot Machine.

Stamped two fish by loading my stamp with Versmark and then with Always Artichoke ink before stamping it on the card stock.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the fish’s stomachs with a So Saffron Marker and added More Mustard marker at the bottom.  I then blended the two colors using the So Saffron marker.

Added Pool Party Marker right above the So Saffron.

Colored the rest of the fish in with a Certainly Celery marker and then added Lucky Limeade marker to the green dark areas.   Let the markers dry before continuing.

Colored over the fish (stay inside of the embossed image) using a Versamarker.  Heat embossed both fish using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamped the plant by loading the image with Versamarker and then Cajun Craze ink and then stamped it.  Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder.  Don’t worry that the plant is on top of the fish it with melt off when you heat it.

Ripped a post it note and masked the bottom sandy area.

Brayered Pool Party ink in the unmasked area.

Brayered Island Indigo ink.

Brayered Midnight Muse ink.

Lightly wiped the ink off of my embossed images with a paper towel.

Removed the post it note mask and sponged River Rock ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Sponged Midnight Muse ink on the edge of the card stock.

Cut a 5.25″ square piece of Pool Party card stock and sponged Island Indigo ink around the edge leaving a circle of card stock showing in the middle.

Sponged Midnight muse ink around the edge, not covering the Island Indigo ink entirely.

Punched 2 triangles with Basic Black card stock and 2 triangles with Pool Party card stock.  Also, cut a 1.5″ x 5.25″ piece of Basic Black card stock and 1/2″ x 5.25″ piece of Island Indigo card stock.

Embossed all the pieces using the Square Lattice Embossing folder and Big Shot machine except for the Basic Black triangles.

Added a 5.5″ square piece of Basic Black card stock and the embossed strips and Basic Black triangles.

Held the two Pool Party triangles together and cut 1/4″ off  of the bottom.  Adhered them to the top of the Black triangles.  Wrapped Linen Thread around the middle 5 times and added the scallop circle and main image circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Lastly, added a 5.5″ x 11″ Whisper White card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

May you be rejuvenated this weekend.

Until my next post. . . . . .
