Hello there,

Today’s project was put together using the direct to paper technique, so fun!  The stamped boat image may be overlooked in your stamp stash because it comes in the Swirly Bird stamp set.  What? how does a boat fit in with the name of that set, Swirly Bird?  But it is the cutest little boat and comes together in pieces so it is super easy to make each piece of the boat whatever color you want.  I stayed with cool blues today.

Dragonflies at Play – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello there,

Sometimes I have so much fun with a stamp set that my mind starts whirling with new scenes to create with it.  Such as the case of the Touches of Texture stamp set that I used on my last project and was still on my desk this morning.  So, with a fresh scene inside of my head from Monday, I created today’s card.

Photos don’t do a project justice sometimes.  The dragonflies and the water have a super wonderful sparkle to them after I used the Clear Wink of Stella brush pen, #141897 over them and the camera just doesn’t pick it up well.  You will need to use your imagination, sorry.  But in real life it has a shimmery sparkly lovely look.  Well worth the two seconds it took to put it on the card.  Have you used it yet?

Best Bird at Night – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello there,

I have a confession to make, it may sound very strange, but my favorite stamp from the Stampin’ Up! catalog is the flourish I used in the sky in today’s project from the Stampin’ Up! set Star of Light, item #142110.  That stamp is just magical to me and makes every scene it is used in magical too.  It’s a must have stamp set.  I have used that stamp with so many different stamp sets.  Today I combined it with the beautiful images from the Best Birds set.  🙂

Tip:  When coloring birds add a little unexpected color and then repeat it in the card stock layers.  This really pulls the project together.

I decided to get more out of my Flourish Thinlits Dies today by layering them for this great look.  The layering of this die gives a look of scroll cut wood when you put it on top of this wood looking direct to paper background. Very elegant indeed!

Hello there,

I hope this blog post finds you happily enjoying the weekend.  It is raining cats and dogs outside here so I am held up in my craft space enjoying some stamping time.  It’s rough being me, NOT!

Today’s card features the Swirly Bird stamp set and Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies.  I love that wave looking diecut and that little boat, too cute!

I opted to use the direct to paper technique for this project which gives you a bit of a painting look.  Also, I choose to use some great beachy shades of card stock to pull it all together.  🙂  I hope this inspires you to get some stamping therapy in, it’s awesome!

A Little Hello – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello there,

I hope this finds you having the best weekend ever!  You know it’s a good weekend for me when I can find the time to do some stamping.  It brings a little peace and harmony to this busy life.  🙂

Today I played around with the direct to paper technique for the background of my main image panel.  No two cards are the same with this technique that is one of the reasons it’s so fun.  Also, this technique brings a fun flair to the project.  So super simple to do too.

I also played around with shading the punched banner.  It looks like multiple pieces cut out right?  Well it is one piece and with some marker added to give it a dimensional look with a lot less work.
